DEVOTIONALS

HAVE ALL YOUR NEEDS BEEN MET?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
And my God will meet all your needs
according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:19)

MEDITATION:
Every human being has a lot of wants, but each of us also has many
needs. Sometimes it’s easy to confuse wants with needs. Wants can
often be interpreted as needs, when they really are not. In addition
wants can often fall outside the boundaries established by God for
mankind. However, needs are what God has determined are good
and important for us.

Hunger for food is a need, and God provides the sun and rain for the
fields of grain. The grain is made into flour, and the flour into bread,
so man’s physical hunger has been satisfied.

Hunger for love is a need, and God ignites the fire of affection in two
hearts that are made complete in holy matrimony. He has also given
us a desire for good friendships and puts people in our paths who can
fill that need. He also teaches us to be friends for others.

Even when man hungers for knowledge, God calls some to be instructors
and raises up institutions of learning (some of these institutes prepare
chosen people to become pastors and missionaries). When we have a
hunger for knowledge, we need to keep it within God’s boundaries of
what is good for us. Curiosity and lust can cause us to seek knowledge
that’s not pleasing to our heavenly Father, and can also give Satan free
access to contaminate our soul with unrighteousness.

Fellowship is a need and God is available for everyone who calls on His name.

Yes, God satisfies our needs in many ways. We can be confident that He
satisfies the hunger and thirst for those who desire His kingdom and His
righteousness. God would not satisfy all our physical and emotional needs,
and then let us suffer from spiritual starvation.

Why not? Because He loves us with an undying affection that we may
not fully appreciate and understand. Our goal should be to return His
love and to fellowship and please Him every day. He has promised to
fulfill this desire in us.

ACTION:
Questions to consider:
    – What ‘needs’ do I have that I feel are unmet?
Could it be that what I think is a ‘need’, is really a ‘want’?

We should never forget that our ‘wants’ could be something that’s not
good for us. However, having our ‘needs’ fulfilled is certainly good for
us. We need to remember that God is the One who satisfies our needs
and He is the One who helps us avoid the pursuit of any wants that will
be damaging to us and our relationship with Him. God deserves our love
and appreciation for how He fulfills our needs, blesses us, and protects
us from the things that are harmful.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for fulfilling my needs. You have
abundantly supplied my greatest need, heavenly Father – You
have given me love. Thank You for knowing when my wants are
not really needs, and for standing between me and the ones that
are not good for me. Knowing that You are taking care of me brings
peacefulness into my life. Forgive me if I have failed to adequately
express my appreciation for all You have done for me, all You are
doing for me, and all You will do for me in the future. I am thankful
that I can call You my Lord, and I want to increase my fellowship
with You.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 120 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
