BIBLE PASSAGE:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give
you hope and a future.”
(Jeremiah 29:11)
MEDITATION:
Do you love Christ?
Do you have a yearning to please Him with all your heart?
If so, then, remember these things:
– God’s delays are not God’s denials.
– God’s timing is perfect.
– God loves you and wants what is best for you.
– God will provide what you need for meeting His plans for you.
– God does not consider you inadequate for His plans.
– If God didn’t think you could ‘do it’,
then He wouldn’t have called you.
– You know what you ‘want’, but God knows what you ‘need’.
As a Christian, we may feel we are wandering in the wilderness,
and being led in circles without a real purpose. Rather than being
consumed with these negative thoughts, we should consider that
God is quite possibly grooming us for His plans.
He may not be ready to thrust us into heavy responsibilities just yet.
He could have us in a holding pattern as He ‘fine tunes’ us for His
holy purpose.
Life is a one continuous journey and God knows how to prepare us
for something wonderful He has for us! He doesn’t want us to settle
for less than His optimum plan for our life.
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation
to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness
and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright
and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the
blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great
God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us
to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself
a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
(Titus 2:11-14)
ACTION:
As followers of Christ, we are given a new ‘nature’, which includes
a desire to serve God. At least three things are involved in order to
serve Him. Two are our responsibilities – patience and commitment.
God takes care of the third – preparation.
While God is preparing us for service, we need to learn how to be
patient and develop a mindset to commit to whatever He calls us
to do (even if it is outside our comfort zone). Remember, He will
help us overcome any “hangups” we may have, because He wants
us to be successful and enjoy serving Him.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your plans for me.
Thank You for Your plans to prosper me, not as the
world thinks of prosperity, but a richness in terms of
a hope and a future. Thank You for preparing me in
advance of the plans You have for me. Help me to be
patient on Your timing and to anticipate with excitement
what You have for me. Increase my enthusiasm for
serving You, the God of all creation! Help me to seek
You with all my heart.”
