WHERE DO WE GO FOR HELP WHEN WE ARE BURDENED?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will
give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for
I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
(Matthew 11:28-30)

MEDITATION:
There was a man who had a great hunting dog that loved the water.
One day, the man and his dog went to a lake.
When it came time for them to go,
he called the dog, but the dog wouldn’t come.
Again he called, but the dog kept playing.

He called for him several more times and although
the dog was well-trained, he just would not come.
Finally the man got a stick and threw it out in the water.
When the dog saw it, he swam over, got the stick,
swam to shore, and laid it at his master’s feet.

Sometimes we face burdens that seem to come suddenly and they
can be discouraging, frightening, overwhelming, disheartening, etc.

Sometimes we may be burdened
because God wants to get our attention.
Sometimes we may be burdened
because God has prepared us for the next step in His plans for us.

Sometimes we may be burdened
because God wants to teach us something.
We may never know why we can suddenly become burdened,
but when it happens, we can always lay them at the Master’s feet.

ACTION:
If our heart is aching and breaking, there is a Savior who loves us.
Because He loves us, He knows more about us than we know about
ourselves, so He knows exactly what we need when we are burdened.
Friends can help in some ways, but He can heal, and we can find rest in Him!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing me and for always
being available when I am saddened, confused, hurting, etc.
Thank you for Your assurance that whatever I need for healing,
You will provide. I know I can find rest in You, and You can
give me a new purpose for living. Thank You for your plans for
me, which gives me hope and a future!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
