THE PURITY AND VALUE OF GOD’S WORD – THE BIBLE

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread
alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
(Matthew 4:4)

MEDITATION:
Think about these words from Jesus
(He has given us instructions for living).
Yes, food is important, but so are the Words of God.
It seems that Jesus is saying we need food for physical nourishment,
but we also need the scriptures for spiritual and emotional nourishment.

Some may mistranslate the Word of God.
Some may misquote the Word of God.
Some may even misuse the Word of God
(by taking some verses ‘out of context’
to make them fit what they want them to say).

However, God’s Word is absolutely and totally without error.
It is unchangeable, and should never be fragmented to fit
our “wants”; it is God’s communication to fit our “needs”.

The scriptures point us to God’s Son, Jesus; so the clarity of
the Bible, and the clarity of Jesus Christ, rise and fall together.
Revelation 19:13 and John 1:14
tell us that Jesus is the “Word of God”.

God gave the same name to His Son that He gave to the Bible!
The scriptures confirm who Jesus is, and the things God wanted
Him to accomplish when He came to earth in the form of a human,
while still retaining His position as part of the Trinity.

“I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works
that the Father has given me to finish – the very works that I
am doing – testify that the Father has sent me. And the Father
who sent me has himself testified concerning me. (John 5:36-37)

Being God and human simultaneously is a concept that
can be difficult to grasp, but the more we read the Bible,
the better we understand Jesus and His purpose.
And, the more we understand God’s Word,
the more we understand the requirements for living life.

Jesus did not come to confuse us, but to give us
a better understanding of God’s Word.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;
I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell
you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not
the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law
until everything is accomplished.” (Matthew 5:17-18)

Jesus wants us to understand that even the smallest and seemingly
insignificant elements of the Bible, are important and dependable.
If we expect to enjoy the benefits of God’s Word, then we need
to dedicate time to reading the scriptures (His communication to us).

For instance, if we meditate on this one verse,
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)
…we see that:
God loves us;
God sent His Son to be the sacrifice for our sins;
God cares about us;
God has given us the requirements for eternal life.

Also, in the following verse,
And we know that in all things God works for the good
of those who love him, who have been called according
to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
…we see:
Confirmation of God’s concern for us and our well-being;
God’s expectations that we will love Him;
God has a purpose for everyone He has created (which means
aborting a child has destroyed God’s purpose for that person).

ACTION:
If we expect to have an improved spiritual and emotional life
(which confirms we belong to God), then we need to spend
time reading His messages to us;
we need to believe them and apply His principles
and commands to our own lives.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for communicating to me through
Your Word. Remind me of the value of your messages and how
my life can be enhanced by Your blessings, whenever I apply
Your instructions to the way I live here on earth. Help me to
live a life that will create a desire in others to know You, Your
Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Thank You for your love and
concern for me, and for giving me a specific purpose for living.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
