WHEN A NATION DISOWNS GOD AND HIS PRINCIPLES

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom
and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens.
(Genesis 19:24)

MEDITATION:
The landscape of America is rapidly changing and many are
shocked at what they are witnessing, but ungodly nations
have been living in this environment for a long time.
It should not be a surprise when America (once known as a Godly
nation), is experiencing the same problems as other countries without God.
Why? Because as a nation, we have eliminated Him as much as possible.

As an individual, you may say that you have not asked God to leave
you alone, but as a nation, God has been ignored, mocked, disobeyed,
and treated as one who is unwanted.
As a result God seems to have removed His protective hand from America.

He did the same thing to the nation of Judah during biblical times
because they were not ashamed of their sins
and their disobedience to God’s commands.
Their lifestyle showed they did not want God to be a part of it.
Sodom and Gomorrah also experienced the wrath of God due to
their vile and unholy life of sinfulness, and their rejection of God.

Winston Churchill made a profound statement when he said that any
void created by the removal of God, will be re-filled with ungodliness.

ACTION:
You may be wondering how you, as an individual, can contribute to changing
America so that God will return His protective hand over this nation.
The scriptures tell each person (especially Christians) how they
can participate in inviting the Lord back into the nation of America.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and
pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear
from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
(2 Chronicles 7:14)

“Humbling ourselves” means we need to make changes in our own lives.
Acknowledging the presence and importance of God
becomes the primary focus of our minds and actions.
For some, that means returning to corporate worship services
on a regular basis, reading the bible and praying daily,
and dedicating themselves to serving Him.

Are you willing to humble yourself, pray, and seek the face of God?
You can help to initiate a positive change, but you cannot do it idly,
you have to commit to doing things differently and with a different attitude.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I am ashamed of how You have been treated by
my nation, and I am ashamed of how I have not given You top priority
in my own life. Forgive me for my failures and forgive my nation for
how it has been treating You. Increase my humility and help me to seek
Your face, and to forsake my own wicked and sinful ways. I beg You to
return Your protective hand to America. As an individual, I invite You
to return to my nation and I commit my life to You.”
