DEVOTIONALS

EVIDENCE OF THE RESURRECTION

BIBLE PASSAGE:
For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe
that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
(1 Thessalonians 4:14)

MEDITATION:
Jesus was not a divine man; He was not a human God;
He was the God-man; perfect humanity and perfect Deity.

How do we know Jesus was not just another wild-eyed fanatic?
How do we know He was not just another religious teacher or
some guru? We know because He walked out of that tomb!
We may ask,
“How do we know He did that?”

Good question:
We know because He showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs.
For 40 days after His crucifixion, Jesus appeared before the people.
“After His suffering, He presented himself to them and gave
many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to
them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom
    of God.”
    (Acts 1:3)

After His death and resurrection, Jesus appeared before His disciples,
then He appeared before more than 500 people, and He again appeared
before the apostles.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that
He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according
to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, and then to
the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred
of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are
still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared
to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all He appeared to
me also, as to one abnormally born.
    (1 Corinthians 15:3-8)

We can see that there is inescapable and undeniable evidence
that Jesus Christ came out of the grave. There is more evidence
of His existence, crucifixion, and resurrection than there is that
Julius Caesar ever lived.

Even the simple, or most complex reasoning would both have to agree
there is no doubt that Jesus Christ did rise from the dead. He arose!
He came out of that grave! And, one day He will return to gather
those who belong to Him, and pass judgment on those who do not.

ACTION:
Do you believe Jesus was resurrected and will return to take believers
home? How has the risen Savior impacted your life? How are you
impacting others for His kingdom? What spiritual gift has He given
you to use in serving Him? Does your life lean toward Him, or toward
something else?

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus who came to earth to
share the good news, and to give us an example of how we
should live our lives. Thank You for His resurrection, and His
promises to all those who believe in, and surrendered their lives
to Him. Thank You that we, as believers, have been promised a
heavenly home that is awaiting us, and that Jesus will gather us
together when He returns. Help me to have a heavenly impact
on others as I openly and unashamedly live and express my faith
in Jesus. Show me my spiritual gift and teach me how to use it to
continue sharing the good news of salvation. Help me to be more
like Your Son, Jesus.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
