As believers, God has given us spiritual gifts to be used
effectively in expanding His ministry on earth. One of
those gifts is Organization and when it is effectively used,
it will contribute to the Lord’s purpose.
We may not think of organization as a spiritual gift, but it is
an important one for being a part of God’s earthly mission
(individually or as a group). Organization is important in
serving God, but it is also important in our own lives, and
in businesses.
CHARACTERISTICS:
1. Has an ability to see the big picture
and visualize the final results of a major undertaking.
– A dreamer in action.
2. Has an ability to break down larger goals into smaller, achievable tasks.
– Is never discouraged by the size of a task,
because he or she knows how to break it up into smaller tasks.
– Knows how to establish goals.
3. Is motivated to organize anything for which they are given responsibility.
– Is a self-starter.
4. Has an ability to know what resources
are available and needed to reach a goal.
– Is not receptive to negative reasoning, but wants
to see positive responses to a plan for reaching a goal.
– Can easily recognize the talents and abilities of others.
5. Has an ability to know what tasks can, and cannot, be delegated.
– Has no problem delegating some tasks, because he or she
knows that they do not have the expertise to complete them.
6. Has a tendency to remove himself or herself
from detracting details in order to focus on the ultimate goal.
– Does not let skeptical or pessimistic attitudes and comments
discourage them from achieving the goal.
7. Has a willingness to endure negative reactions.
– Is willing to accept criticism
and still continue toward the ultimate goal.
8. Has a need for loyalty and confidence
from those who are being directed and are serving.
– Grieves over disloyalty, because he or she knows
that the assigned task will not be completed and could
impact the rest of the team.
9. Has a tendency to assume responsibility if no structured leadership exists.
– Cannot remain idle when there is chaos.
10. Has a desire to see tasks completed as soon as possible.
– Wants to see the task completed well and in an orderly fashion.
11. Gets joy and fulfillment in seeing all the parts come together and
everyone enjoying the finished project, and their individual contributions.
12. Is ready to move on to a new challenge
when a previous task is fully completed.
– Is not content with ‘resting on the laurels’ of what has been
accomplished but is motivated to find new and exciting tasks.
MISUNDERSTANDINGS:
1. The ability to delegate responsibility:
– May appear to some as laziness and avoiding work.
2. The willingness to endure reaction:
– May appear to be calloused, or insensitive.
Note: If someone is drowning, a person with this gift wants to get
a life preserver to them immediately with considering the
color of size of the life preserver (is a person of action).
3. The neglect in explaining why tasks must be completed:
– May prompt workers to feel as if they are being misused.
Note: A person with this gift is focused on the overall goal
and doesn’t want to be distracted by the details and rationale
of the individual tasks to be completed.
Note: God will turn all misuse into a blessing (Romans 8:28).
4. The viewing of people as resources:
– May appear that projects are more important than people.
5. The desire to complete a task quickly:
– May appear to have an insensitivity to the
schedule and the weariness or priorities of others.
