HOLY SPIRIT – OPEN ALL THE DOORS OF YOUR LIFE TO HIM

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
(Revelation 3:20)

MEDITATION:
In Revelation we see that Jesus indicates He wants a relationship with us.
Try to visualize someone knocking on your door and you are on the other side.
We hear a knock at the door, and most of us will respond with, “Who is it?”
Then we hear Jesus answer, “It’s Me, Jesus. I’m sure you have heard
about how much I love you and what I did on the cross for you.
I would like a relationship with you, would you like one with Me?”

By faith, we willingly and transparently open the door of our life, to begin
the process of connecting with Jesus, and welcoming Him into our life.
It is a special moment that all believers have with Jesus.
It is a moment of welcome, a moment of belief, a moment of acceptance,
and the start of integrating Christ (and the Holy Spirit) into the house of our life.

However, the first knock is just the first big door,
and it will soon be followed by many more knocks.
Jesus, with our permission through the Holy Spirit,
begins a tour of the other rooms that fill our house (our life).

The other rooms might include:
– The room of our secrets.
– The room of our fears.
– The room of our character.
– The room of our beliefs.
– The room of our relationships.
– The room of our marriage.
– The room of our thought life.
– The room of our unhealthy appetites.
– The room of our past.

When Jesus ‘knocks’ offering salvation, and we say, “Come on in!”,
it is at that moment that Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, takes up residence in us.
Afterward the Holy Spirit just keeps knocking and begins
the renovation process of all the various ‘rooms’ of our lives.

Not only do we need to say “Yes” to the Holy Spirit, but we also need
to comprehend what the scope of saying “Yes” means going forward.
We need to understand that the Holy Spirit wants access
to every area of our life in order for Him to transform it.

When the Holy Spirit asks for access to every area of our life,
it’s important for us to make a way for Him to enter, and allow Him
‘to do His thing’ to remodel that area the way God wants it to be.
If we refuse to do this, then we are guilty of what the scriptures say in Acts 7.
“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised.
You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!” (Acts 7:51)

ACTION:
We need to remember that the Holy Spirit is a person
(He is not an “it”, not a “force”, and not a “personification of something else”).
As a person, He can be grieved, and if we refuse His involvement in our lives
then we will be grieving the Holy Spirit (which is disobedience of God’s Word).
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, forgive me if I have failed to allow the Holy Spirit
to have access to all facets of my life. Thank You for the blessings and
obedience I can expect when He remodels my life, and transforms me
into the type of person You want me to be. Help me to open up every
area of my life and become transparent and honest to Him, and to stop
justifying or making excuses for the sins in my life.”

I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
