HOLY SPIRIT – IS HE OCCUPYING HIS RIGHTFUL PLACE IN YOUR LIFE?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send
in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of
everything I have said to you.
(John 14:26)

MEDITATION:
As believers, it is essential for us to connect with God’s kingdom.
In order to do that, we need to connect with God’s active power
on earth – the Holy Spirit.

How do we do that?
We connect by saying “Yes” to a change in the leadership of our lives.
Every person who belongs to God is commanded to make that switch
in leadership.

To say “No” to the Holy Spirit is pure foolishness (according to God’s Word).
His Word is very clear,
“do not be foolish….be filled with the Spirit”
    (Ephesians 5:17-20)
Of course the opposite is also true, a wise person who belongs to God
will say, “Yes” to the Holy Spirit.

We should ask ourselves questions like:
    – Have I said “Yes” to the Holy Spirit’s control and asked Him to ‘fill me’?
    – Have I been living under my own control, or His control?
    – Have I been fighting with God’s voice in my life?
    – Have I been listening to other voices?

The good news is, all believers can get ‘on track’, or ‘back on track’
by simply transitioning control of their lives over to the Holy Spirit.

Why and how would we do this?
    – We do it willingly, because God is asking.
    – We do it obediently, because God is commanding.
    – We do it expectantly, because God will reward us with a special power.
    – We do it prayerfully,
because the Holy Spirit power comes in us and through us, by faith.

Every believer has the potential for a personal connection to God’s
kingdom. Saying “Yes” to the Holy Spirit ensures that you and I are
in a position to experience our connection to the kingdom of God in
our everyday affairs.

ACTION:
Who is driving the car of your life right now? Who is guiding all
the decisions you make right now? Is the Holy Spirit occupying
His rightful place, or have you replaced Him with yourself?

If you really want to be connected to God’s kingdom, then you
have to relinquish your control to the Holy Spirit. Think about
the advantages of making that switch in leadership.

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and therefore is endowed with
the same wisdom and foresight of our Heavenly Father. That means
He not only can see all, and knows the right decisions to make, but
He also knows more about you than you do; as part of the Trinity,
He is intimately connected to Your Creator.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for assuring me that the Holy Spirit
is available for all who believe in Jesus Christ, and have surrendered
their lives to His Will for their lives. Forgive me for seizing control
from the Holy Spirit in order to be in charge of my own life, and my
desires. Help me to understand the importance and benefit of making
a personal decision to return the leadership of my life to the rightful
owner, the Holy Spirit.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
