PRAYER? WHO HAS TIME TO PRAY?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
In him and through faith in him we may
approach God with freedom and confidence.
(Ephesians 3:12)

MEDITATION:
One of the greatest privileges that you and I have is, the blessing of
prayer God has given to us for communicating with Him. When we
get to heaven, we might be surprised and amazed at how poorly we
prayed. We may also discover how seldom we prayed during our time
here on earth.

Many of our failures in life could probably be attributed to our prayer
failures. There isn’t any need in our life that cannot be met when we
pray (even though our needs may not be fulfilled the way we expected
or wanted; and that is because God knows what we really need).

We can defeat sin in our life through prayer. The problem for most is,
they consider victory over sin as something that takes time, so they fail
to pray for defeating sin on a daily basis. When we pray at night, we
should ask for God’s help, and then commit to Him that we will abstain
from a lingering sin for the next day.

Hymn writer Joseph M. Scriven wrote these words,
“O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.”
When we have problems, too many times we wring our hands and try to
create a plan of action, rather than bending our knees and asking God
to show us His plan.

ACTION:
Spend some time in prayer praising God for listening and answering
every prayer you offer to Him. He may answer, “Yes”; He may answer,
“No”; He may answer, “Wait”; but, He will answer the prayers of the
faithful who believe.

The question is not,
“How can I find time to pray?”
but
“How can I afford not to spend time praying?”

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I admit that there are too many times I have failed
to come to You in prayer when I am having problems, facing decisions,
or wanting to help someone else during a bad time in their life. I have
also failed to ask for Your help in defeating sin in my life on a daily
basis. Help me to realize the valuable asset of prayer You have given
me, and help me in my efforts to pray daily and pray often. Even when
I struggle with finding the words, remind me that spending quiet time
with You is still valuable, because the Holy Spirit will communicate
what is on my heart and mind.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
