BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant?
Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light,
trust in the name of the LORD and rely on their God.”
(Isaiah 50:10)
MEDITATION:
None of us enjoy going through difficult times, but for some reason,
we find that we can endure a lot if we know why it is happening.
Of course, we don’t always have the luxury of knowing
the reasons for the things that are happening in our lives.
Many pastors are often asked heartbroken questions from members of their church.
Why did my baby die? Why did I lose my business?
Why am I so sick? Why did my spouse break our marital vows?
The list could go on and on as hurting people just want to have some answers.
Job felt this way.
The scriptures describe Job as a godly man.
In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man
was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. (Job 1:1)
But suddenly he experienced some amazing heartbreaks
and unimaginable physical pains.
Job had questions for the Lord.
In essence Job felt that he deserved an answer
as to why all of this was happening to him.
The bottom had fallen out of his life and he didn’t know why.
ACTION:
We should never get the idea that when we are “right” with God,
we will never have any problems or heartbreak.
We should also never think that we will have all the answers.
However, we should have faith that God will walk with us and help us
cope with whatever blindsides us and has the potential of devastating our lives.
Are you in the middle of a heartbreak?
If so, then learn from Job and pour out your innermost feelings to the Lord.
And, at the same time,
express how you trust Him to help you in your time of turmoil.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I thank You that I can trust You in good times and
in times of trouble. I may not always understand the things that happen
in my life, but You do. And because you are omnipotent and omniscience,
You know everything I need to help me cope with, and endure the troubles
I encounter. Thank You for loving and caring for me, and for all the ways
You bless my life!”
