DEVOTIONALS

IS YOUR LOVE FOR GOD INCREASING, OR DECREASING?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Love the LORD your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength.
(Deuteronomy 6:5)

MEDITATION:
Take time and reminisce about your spiritual journey for a moment.
Think about the early days when you were first learning about God.
Remember the time you first understood how to pray.
Think about how you felt when you prayed to God for the first time.
Remember the emotions you had
as you talked to your Creator, the God of the universe

Now, was there ever a time in your life,
when you loved the Lord Jesus more than you do at this moment?
If there is, then something has happened and you have
backslidden away from your love relationship with Him.
If you don’t love Jesus now with a burning, glowing enthusiasm,
you need to remember what it used to be like and return to your first love.

We should never get the idea that the love bug bit us
and we can fall in and out of love with Jesus.
We have to choose to love Jesus – every day and in every way.
And, our love for Him should always be increasing, never decreasing.

ACTION:
What are you doing today that shows you love Him?
Are you consistent in worshiping with other believers?
Do you pray daily and thank Him for how He has blessed you and your family?
Do you read His Word daily?
What are you NOT doing today that indicates you have lost your first love?
What changes do you need to make in your life to re-ignite your love for God?

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love for me. Forgive me if
my love for You has failed to increase, or even decreased due to the
worldly influences on my life. When I think about my failures, it is
hard for me to understand how You, the omnipotent God of the
universe, can still love me, but You do! Restore in me the love I had
for You when I first came to You in humble surrender of my life to
You. Increase my love by reminding me of all the feelings I had the
first time I prayed to You. As my love for You grows, help me to be
a living witness for You and for the sacrifice Jesus made for my sins.
I do love You Father, help me to show my love through my words
and actions as I live my life in close fellowship with You.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
