BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.”
(Psalm 119:97)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Do you know the first words
Paul uttered when he met the Lord Jesus on the Damascus Road?
He said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
(Acts 9:6 (NKJV))
He didn’t say, “Lord, what do others want me to do?”
or, “Lord, what do You want others to do?”
Look at how the Lord responded to his question:
Then the Lord said to him,
“Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” (Acts 9:6)
The Lord had a specific and personal plan for Paul’s life.
Paul life wasn’t ‘changed’ to ‘stay the same’.
When he met the Lord, he became an active participant in the Lord’s work.
He stayed on mission and didn’t lose his passion when the going got tough.
Think about how Paul’s life might have been different
if the Lord did not have a plan for him.
Even more important, think about how your life might be different
if the Lord did not have a plan for you.
Wouldn’t it be disappointing if the Lord saved you and did not have a plan for you?
His plans are exciting, motivating, and rewarding.
You are no longer on the sidelines watching others follow His plan for their lives.
No, you are called into action as well.
You have a new mission and purpose which is stimulating and satisfying.
ACTION:
Paul answered the Lord’s call and nothing could deter him from obeying Him.
Will you be able to say that?
Are you firmly focused on Jesus, so that nothing can deter you
from loving Him with all your heart, from devoting yourself to Him,
and from following His plan for your life?
What are you doing specifically to accomplish His will for your life?
Compare that with what you are doing to accomplish your will for your life.
How much time are you spending being unselfish compared to
the time you are spending being selfish and self-centered?
Are you encouraging and lifting the spirits of others,
or do you wait for them to encourage and lift your spirits?
What is there about your life that testifies you have a passionate love for God?
Be thankful that you do not have to sit on the sidelines and watch others
enjoy actively serving the Lord and developing a closer relationship with Him.
Your Lord and Savior views you as an active contributor to His ministry.
Others can sometimes make you feel insignificant,
but the Lord considers you as a valuable part of His mission.
It just doesn’t get any better than that,
so what will you do with His plan for you?
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me from a destiny with death
and eternal separation from You. Thank You for not only saving me,
but for also having a plan that allows me to participate in Your mission.
Thank You for seeing something in me that I cannot even see in myself.
Help me to discover Your plan for me and like Paul, to diligently pursue
the path You have charted for me. Help me in the renewing of my mind
so that although I am in the world, my focus and dedication will be to
follow Your plan for me.”
