BIBLE PASSAGE:
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through
our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
(2 Peter 1:3)
MEDITATION:
A violinist stepped out onto stage one evening and drew the bow across his violin.
The room fell silent as the audience heard the most glorious music they had ever heard.
When he finished, the crowd leaped to their feet and gave ovation, after ovation.
What happened next, shocked everyone speechless.
The violinist broke the violin on the podium into a thousand pieces.
He looked at the audience and said,
“Ladies and gentlemen, don’t be dismayed. This was only a three and a half
dollar violin. It is not so much the violin that makes the music as it is the man
who draws the bow.”
Every Christian should have a burning desire to live a godly life.
However, as long as Satan is in the world,
it can be a daunting task that is difficult to achieve.
In fact, since Satan’s power is much greater than ours,
we cannot live a godly life without some additional help.
We need God’s divine power to give us an advantage over Satan.
The good news is, He offers His power to all who seek and ask for it.
Little is so much when God is involved.
God can take a life that may be comparable to a $3.50 violin
and turn it into a masterpiece.
ACTION:
Satan is excellent at filling our minds with negative and discouraging thoughts.
The more we try to fight him in our own strength,
the more our discouragement will increase.
And, as our discouragement increases, we start to develop a defeatist attitude.
Maybe Satan has been winning the battles in your life
and caused you to become discouraged at the possibility of living a godly life.
Perhaps you have developed a self-sufficient attitude and believe that you can
eventually defeat Satan’s attempts to prevent you from living a godly life.
Learn from the Psalmist who knew that strength and success
was only possible through total dependence on God.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge. (Psalm 62:7)
Believe God’s Word when it says that He will
provide “everything” you need for living a godly life.
You know that God wants you to live a godly life,
and if you love Him, you will want to live one as well.
Substitute your name in the scripture for today, and believe it!
His divine power has given ME everything I need for a godly life through
MY knowledge of him who called ME by his own glory and goodness.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, as a child of Yours, I want to live a godly life,
but I cannot accomplish it in my own strength. I need Your help
because the evil one is too strong for me to overcome. I pray that
You will equip me for repelling his relentless attempts to discourage
me and prevent me from living a life that is pleasing to You.”
