BIBLE PASSAGE:
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh:
“I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power
in you and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
(Romans 9:17)
MEDITATION:
Have you ever thought about the possibility
that God has ‘raised you up’ for a specific purpose?
Think about it for a second.
Since God created you, He has the power to determine His purpose for you.
And since He is the omnipotent supreme God of the universe, He is in control
of everything, even though some choose to believe that He doesn’t exist.
There is a story about a little boy
who had recently received Christ and asked his father,
“Daddy, how can I believe in the Holy Spirit when I have never seen Him?”
His father, who was an electrician, said “I’ll show you how”.
He took his son to the power plant and showed him the generators and said,
“This is where the power comes from to heat our stove and to give us light.
We cannot see the power, but it is in that machine and in the power lines”.
The little boy said, “I believe in electricity”.
“Of course you do,” said his father, “but you don’t believe in it because
you see it. You believe in it because you see what it can do. You can also
believe in the Holy Spirit because you can see what He does in the lives
of people who surrender to Christ and receive His power to do what He raised
them up to do.”
ACTION:
Have you allowed the power of the Lord
to guide you in doing what He wants of you?
Rather than imagining some monumental, highly visible task,
think about how the Lord can use you every day.
What special qualities and talents has He given you that makes it possible
for you to be a positive influence on others, or maybe just one person?
Some think that when they commit to following the Lord, they are done.
Don’t ever think for a moment that when you surrender to the Lord He
does not have a purpose for you in His earthly ministry.
The Holy Spirit is given to those who follow Christ to assist with understanding
what God’s Will is for them, and not just to idly reside in their hearts and souls.
Don’t allow your selfishness to grieve the Holy Spirit
by suppressing His activity in Your life.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom
you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, make my heart completely devoid of selfishness
so that I can be filled with Your Spirit. Make me aware of what You
raised me up to be and to do. Help me to pursue whatever You want
of me. Thank You for loving me and considering me as one You can
use for Your purpose.”

About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
This is good stuff, Don!
