BIBLE PASSAGE:
Let all that you do be done with love.
(1 Corinthians 16:14)
MEDITATION:
What motivates Christians
to be an active part of a ministry or member of a church?
It is an inherent characteristic of love for people,
and a desire to see Christ’s life-changing power have an impact on others.
If we are driven by selfishness,
our motives are wrong and our efforts will be ineffective.
As Christians, we find ourselves in all types of situations every day.
It must be our love for God and God’s love for people that motivates us.
Without the love of God,
we can spend an inordinate amount of time of ineffective service.
Man’s work may look good in the eyes of the world,
but only the love of God will produce lasting results.
If we want to see the love of God penetrate the hearts of the lost,
we must let them see that we love them and want what is best for them.
That is not something that can be accomplished with a selfish heart.
ACTION:
Can others detect your love and concern for them by the things you do and say?
Others may never realize you love them until they know you care about them.
When we care deeply about the welfare of others, God may inspire us to say
something to them that is awkward for us, and not well received by them.
However, when God urges us to do anything, He will give us the wisdom,
and courage to say what needs to be said from a heart of love and concern.
He does not call us to ‘brow beat’ others, but to love them.
Love prevents us from having a feeling of superiority
or self-righteousness over others.
Jesus tells us to be aware that we have faults as well.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no
attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother,
‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see
the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye,
and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
(Luke 6:41-42)
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me. Help me to love others
and to allow Your love to flow through me to them. Remind me to
pray for those who are lost and need salvation, and for those who
claim to be believers in Jesus, but are living a lifestyle contrary to
what is expected of those committed to following Him. Protect me
from Satan’s attempts to convince me that I am superior to others.”

About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
