DEVOTIONALS

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONLY ONE BOOK TO READ, WHAT WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE?

SCRIPTURE:
But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth
and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming.
(Romans 10:8)

MEDITATION:
There seems to be a growing number of people
who have trouble understanding the Bible.
Many times during my career others would ask me questions about God’s Word.
Of course I am no expert, but I do try to read the Bible daily.

As a result, I believe He opens my mind to understanding some things
that I would never grasp if my Bible sat on a table collecting dust.
Based on the questions I have been asked, I am fairly certain that if
others were reading theirs too, they wouldn’t have come to me for answers.

I enjoy reading it daily because there is so much I have to learn and it is
exciting whenever I read the same scripture I have read many times before,
but suddenly it has new meaning.
Personally, I believe that is God’s reward for those who read His Word.

One of the most important things the Bible teaches
is that our souls have a disease.
It is what causes all troubles and difficulties in the world.
It is also what causes troubles, confusions
and disillusions in our own lives.
The name of the disease is an ugly word
that we don’t like to use; it is called “sin”.

Many allow their pride to prevent them
from confessing that they are wrong, or that they have failed.
However in His Word, God says,
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
That means that everyone has failed to live up to His divine standard.
But praise God, He has provided a way for us to have our failures corrected.

He sent His Son, Jesus, to be a living sacrifice
and assume the punishment for our sins.
The first step in the process of our forgiveness
is confession of our sins to the Lord.
This is a step that leads us toward happiness, peace, and commitment.
All of this information is available in the Bible – for those who read it.

ACTION:
Do you read your Bible daily to become acquainted with God and His Son?
Or, do you prefer to leave the reading to someone else
and depend on them to tell you what the Bible says?
Consider this: God is the God of dispensation.

In other words, He can use the same scripture
and “dispense” different meanings to different people.
Why would He do that?
Because He loves us
and knows what each individual person needs at a particular time.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for providing Your Word to everyone for
so many centuries. Help me to practice self-discipline and start reading
the Bible on a daily basis. As I make this commitment, I pray that You
will open my eyes and mind to the valuable information and instructions
including within its pages. Thank You for Your plan of salvation, and for
Jesus who willingly died so that I could appear blameless before You!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
