DEVOTIONALS

REALLY? I CAN BE BLESSED THROUGH DISCIPLINE?

SCRIPTURE:
Blessed is the man You discipline, O Lord, the one you teach from Your law.
(Psalm 94:12)

MEDITATION:
When receiving discipline as a child, did your parents ever tell you,
“I’m doing this for your good”?
If you are like me, you probably thought,
“How is my punishment going to be for good?”
However, when we become parents with children of our own,
it makes a lot more sense, doesn’t it?

With that in mind, it makes sense that God ‘blesses’ us with His discipline.
Sometimes Christians suffer in order to learn the secret of obedience.
The Psalmist said,
“Before I was afflicted, I went astray; but now obey your word”
(Psalm 119:67).
It was after great sorrow and a lot of affliction
when David learned to be obedient to God.

ACTION:
If you are suffering today from the hand of God
and have asked a thousand times, “Why?” - be patient
and quiet before God, and listen to the still, small voice.
Realize that your discipline is from His loving hand.
Even though it may be gloomy,
realize that the sun is still shining above the clouds.

God has a purpose and design for your life,
and what is happening to you, really is for your good.
Here is the hard part – thank Him for His discipline
and how it will benefit you.
According to His Word, once He has disciplined you, then He teaches you.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me enough to provide discipline when
needed. Help me to change from rebelling against Your discipline, and start
embracing what You are doing because it is truly for my benefit. The human
side of me says, “Why, Lord?” whenever I have to endure suffering; but the
Spirit-filled side of me (after I was born again) says, “I trust You,
Father”. Give me strength to allow the Spirit part of me to win the battles
over the human side of me. Show me Your purpose and design for my life.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
