THE BATTLE RAGES BETWEEN LIGHT AND DARKNESS

SCRIPTURE:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
(Ephesians 6:12)

MEDITATION:
All life is a struggle - that is the nature of things.
Even within our physical bodies, doctors tell us
a conflict for supremacy is raging.
The bacteria in our bloodstream
are waging a constant war against alien germs.
The red corpuscles fight the white corpuscles constantly
in an effort to maintain life within the body.

There is also a battle raging in the spiritual realm.
“We wrestle,” the Bible says,
“against the rulers of the darkness of this world”.
Light can destroy the darkness, but darkness cannot overtake the light.
Darkness hates light – it is its nature.

Things that please the Lord are considered to be ‘in the light’.
But those things that displease the Lord are considered to be ‘in the dark’.
Thus the battle rages on.
Light wants to overcome the darkness in man,
but darkness strives to prevent light from entering man.

Man is born with a nature to respond to the darkness,
so we are in a losing battle if we rely on our own strength.
In order to have victory over darkness,
we must be born again, with a new nature.
Until we are changed by the power of God’s Spirit,
we will continue to be at enmity with the things of the light.
God’s light is powerful enough to overcome the darkness in our lives.

“in heavenly realms” doesn’t mean “in heaven”;
it means the spiritual, unseen world (a lot goes on in this world).
We have no concept of the struggles going on in this world.
But, we do know that victory in this world,
or any other world, is possible with God.
Without Him and His Spirit,
we will continue striving to overcome the darkness in our life,
or like some have done, give up and choose to live in the darkness.

ACTION:
Are you in a continual battle against the darkness in your life?
Wouldn’t you like to have help in winning a victory over it?
Even with God’s help, we are still in a battle,
however He can help us win victories on a daily basis.
The more victories we win,
the more peace and joy becomes a part of our life.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I cannot even imagine the battles being raged in the
spiritual realm, but I do know how I have been impacted by them. Like
Paul, I find myself “doing the things I don’t want to do” and “failing to
do the things I want to do”. I know that the turmoil in my life cannot be
changed without You and Your Spirit. I ask You today to fill me with an
all-consuming presence of Your Spirit so that I can enjoy the benefits of
victories over darkness. Please help me to use these victories as
motivation to use my Spiritual gifts for serving You and leading others
to Your Son, Jesus.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
