IS GOD ENOUGH AND DOES GOD HAVE ENOUGH?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“And my God will meet all your needs
according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:19)

MEDITATION:
Is God enough?
It’s a question that many people ask as a result of the circumstances
in their lives. It is a question people ask whenever everything seems
hopeless.

We might be confident that God is enough for other people but may
wonder if He can help us in a particular situation we are going through.
It’s not that we don’t think He can, but we wonder if He thinks it is as
important as we do and will He help us in our time of need.

When a friend betrays me, is God enough?
When I need to forgive someone for something
that seems unforgivable, is God enough?
When my child is having issues that are out of my control, is God enough?

When my marriage is on the brink of destruction, is God enough?
When I am not forgiven by another person, is God enough?
When a close friend or relative is dying of cancer, is God enough?
When others don’t recognize my value, is God enough?

When I am struggling professionally, is God enough?
When someone I love uses words to hurt me, is God enough?
When I am in debt and don’t know how I’ll pay my bills, is God enough?
When I am reminded of something I did in the past, is God enough?

When the world is in turmoil, is God enough?
When my health is declining, is God enough?
When I have lost my job, is God enough?
When I am discouraged and disappointed in my life, is God enough?

When those I trust betray me, is God enough?
When I am suffering from low self-esteem, is God enough?
When I feel chained to a specific sin, is God enough?
When Satan has gained a foothold or stronghold in my life,
is God enough?

If we allow it to happen, we can become paralyzed with self-doubts
about God’s abilities, and His choices to help us when we need Him.
Sometimes we don’t realize our need for God and as a result, we try
to meet our needs ourselves. When we discover that nothing we do
can make us feel any better, or help our situation, we turn to God,
finally.

The conclusion is, not only is God enough, but He has to be enough.
If God is not enough, then who or what is? During peaceful times,
we might all agree that God is enough, but during difficult times,
it requires effort on our part to remind ourselves of this fact.

We could lose everything in life because there’s not anything we
have on earth that is guaranteed. If we lose it all, no one can take
away our identity in Christ. Whether we live in a mansion on a hill
or a shack in the swamp, we still have Jesus. Whether the world is
for us or against us, we have Jesus. When we are knocked down, we
fall to our knees and there we find our Jesus. When His Word is
planted deep in our hearts, we can believe it all.

ACTION:
When life becomes more than you think you can handle, don’t quit.
And certainly don’t start believing the lies that may be invading
your thoughts. Instead, ask yourself, “Is God enough for me?”
Your answer to this question could change everything for you.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, when no one else understands what I am
going through, You do. When it seems that no one loves me,
You do. When no one knows how to help me endure adverse
circumstances, You do. Thank You for assuring me that You
are always there, You want what is best for me, You love me,
You can sustain me, and You have the solutions to the issues
of life. Help me to work at getting closer to You through prayer,
Bible study, and worshipping You with other believers. Help me
to realize that the secret of being content in all circumstances is
You. Help me to be aware of Your presence in my life at all times.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
