DEVOTIONALS

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND WORRYING ABOUT YOUR NEEDS?

SCRIPTURE:
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God!
(1 John 3:1)

MEDITATION:
Do you spend an inordinate amount of time worrying?
When you were a child, you didn’t have these worries
because you could depend on your parents to provide for your needs.
As God’s children, we are His dependents.
The Bible says,
“As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” (Psalm 103:13)

Dependent children spend little time worrying
about meals, clothing, and shelter.
They assume (and they have a right to),
that all will be provided by their parents.
Because God is responsible for our welfare, we are told to,
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Because we are dependent upon God, Jesus said,
“Do not let your hearts be troubled” (John 14:27)
In essence God says, “I’ll take care of the burden, so leave it to me”.
Dependent children are not hesitant about asking for favors.
They would not be normal if they did not boldly make their needs known.

God is keenly aware that we are dependent upon Him for life’s necessities.
It was for that reason that He said,
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)

ACTION:
Have you “asked”, “sought” and “knocked”
or are you trying to solve everything in your own strength?
As our Heavenly Father, God wants our dependence on Him
and not our independence (which is an indication
that we think we can get by without Him).

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for adopting me as Your child. Teach me to
depend on You to provide for my needs, so I will not be overburdened with
worry. Your Word clearly says that You love me and are concerned about
my welfare. Help me to ‘let go’ of my worries and increase my faith and
trust in You as my Heavenly Father.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 120 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
