SCRIPTURE:
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”
and believe in your heart that God raised him from
the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
MEDITATION:
We can have many thoughts that are never verbalized, right?
Sometimes we exercise wisdom
and know it is better not to say what we are thinking.
But there are those times when we fail to filter our thoughts
and others hear our thoughts spoken out loud.
This can sometimes embarrass us or cause friction with others.
One thing we should not keep to ourselves
is our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Just saying that He is our Lord is not enough, we need to believe it in our heart.
Anyone can say Jesus is Lord, but without believing that He was resurrected,
we are just merely saying some meaningless words.
We need to do more than verbalize some historical facts,
we need to be committed to Him.
We cannot believe anything into existence.
The Gospel did not come into being because some people believed it.
The tomb was not emptied of the body of Jesus
because some faithful people believed it.
These facts preceded the faith.
In order to believe, we have to have an object of our faith.
The object of Christian faith is Jesus Christ.
Faith is more than an intellectual acknowledgement of the claims of Christ.
Many who have no real relationship with Christ
can say things to convince others (and themselves) that they are saved.
But if they have not made Him Lord of their life, then they are still lost.
We can see things on social media that claim that if we
do not ‘like a posting’, or share one with others, then Jesus is not our Lord.
A relationship with Jesus is not, and will never
be dependent on what is done on social media.
However, we do need to be unashamed
in letting others to know that He is our Lord.
We do not know Christ through the five physical senses, but we know Him
through the sixth sense that God has given every man—the ability to believe.
Faith includes surrender and commitment to God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
These two things will be shown by what we do and the things we say.
ACTION:
Do you have a true relationship with the Lord, or do you ‘talk like a believer’
but have never surrendered your life to Him?
Don’t let Satan convince you
that if you say things enough times, then it makes them true.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your salvation for
me. If I have failed to become a child of Yours, then convict my heart
of what I need to do. Forgive me if I have been claiming to be saved
but have never surrendered my life to You. If I am truly a child of
Yours, then teach me to be bold in sharing my faith with others. I know
that if I keep my eyes on You, my faith will not waiver. Show me how
to contribute to Your ministry and encourage me to joyfully return to
You a portion of all You have given me.”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
