WHERE IS THE BEST SOURCE FOR YOUR DAILY NEEDS?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Give us this day our daily bread.
(Matthew 6:11)

MEDITATION:
Jesus often reminded His followers not to worry. He told them  
not to be anxious about tomorrow’s needs or potential problems.
    Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow,
    for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each
    day has enough trouble of its own.
    (Matthew 6:34)

Jesus stressed a daily reliance on the Father, the One Who provides for
His children day by day. Whenever we get instructions from the Lord,
we know it must be for our benefit. Why? Because He loves the ones
He has created. In this case, the advice from Jesus encourages us to
grow closer to God and to depend on Him more.

Jesus wants us to realize that God’s desire is for us to trust Him with
our daily needs. This trust does not make us poor planners, or careless
with our future, or unprepared to face new challenges. Instead, it keeps
our relationship with God in its proper perspective, and reminds us daily
of our dependence upon the provisions of God.

God is aware of what tomorrow will bring and how we should prepare
for it. We don’t have His wisdom. He knows the problems we will face,
and has already made provision for us to overcome them. We can’t
prepare for the unseen, but He can prepare us for it, because He can
see further down the road than we can. God knows the consequences
and advantages of each decision and we can trust Him!

He only asks us to trust Him daily. Our faith in Him today is not a
replacement of our trust in Him tomorrow. If we walk closely with
Him today, it positions us to be in the center of His will tomorrow.

ACTION:
Questions to consider:
    – Am I a victim of excessive worry?
    – Am I allowing worry to steal the joy of living from me?
    – What level of trust do I have in the Lord?
    – Am I willing to surrender my will for His will?

We should heed the instructions from Jesus and develop a greater
dependency on God. When we rely on Him instead of ‘self’, we will
increase our relationship and fellowship with Him.
    Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not
    on your own understanding; in all your ways submit
    to him, and he will make your paths straight.
    (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I pray that You will help me to reduce my
independence of relying on ‘self’, and increase my trust and
dependence on You. It’s not always easy for me to follow Your
instructions, but I know that when You are in control, I will
benefit from being obedient. Your way always leads me toward
righteousness as You provide for me daily. Help me to overcome
my fears and worries about tomorrow, and to be more content
with how You have blessed me today.”
