BIBLE PASSAGE:
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1)
MEDITATION:
In God’s perfect design for our lives, He has planned for times of fruitfulness
and activity. For our benefit, He will also build in times of quiet and rest. We
can have times when He asks us to remain faithful in doing the same work for
Him day after day. But there will also be times of excitement during seasons
of new beginnings when God wants us to do something specific for His glory.
By God’s grace, we will enjoy seasons of harvesting the fruit of our faithfulness.
Through His grace, we will also overcome cold winters of heartache and grief.
Without winter, we may not fully appreciate the spring season. Nature has its
seasons, and we have seasons that work together to bring about God’s perfect
will for each one of us. We can experience different seasons when God has a
purpose for our lives.
We can be assured of this – if God can cause the timing of the seasons of
nature, then certainly we can trust Him to oversee the seasons of our lives.
In fact, we should find comfort in knowing that God is in control. If we are
going through a winter season of struggles, we know that God will provide
us with a spring season of renewal and restoration.
ACTION:
We might be going through a difficult season right now, but we shouldn’t
lose hope. God knows the season we are in, and He is already preparing a
brighter and sunnier season for us. If our current season is filled with many
questions and seems uncomfortable, we should find comfort in knowing that
God is involving us in His bigger plan.
We may feel uneasy doing what He wants us to do, and we may struggle
with how He wants to accomplish His plans, but we should remember to
keep the faith that we (and others) will benefit when we obey His will for
our lives.
When God calls us to serve Him, we need to remember that we are no
more important than anyone else He has called, and nobody else is more
important than we are as His servants. We are all uniquely created by
God with unique capabilities for serving Him, and we all have the same
responsibility to respond to His call. God doesn’t save us to ‘sit’, He calls
us to ‘serve’.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I am thankful that you control the seasons
of nature and that You oversee the seasons of my life. When I
am down, help me to remember that You are preparing brighter
days for me. When I am confused and uncomfortable where You
are leading me, remind me that when You are involving me in
Your plans, You will be there with me, You will be glorified, and
I will enjoy the benefits of the spring season when my winter
season is over. I pray that You will help me accept and embrace
Your purpose for my life, so I can enjoy all the seasons You have
prepared for me.”
