DEVOTIONALS

IS THERE ANY RELIEF FOR WHAT I’M GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”
(Jeremiah 31:3)

MEDITATION:
Do you have those times when everything seems to be going wrong?
You can have a feeling that ‘if just one more thing happens’, you will
blow a gasket. You might think you have the capacity to handle issues
in small doses, but you can be overwhelmed when more bad things are
added to what you are already trying to cope with.

We might be able to juggle several things at once, but when we have
issues that exceed our capacity for handling them, we start to come
unraveled. It can feel like the walls around us are closing in on us
and we wonder if there is ‘anyone’ who understands how we are
suffering and can offer us some help, or good advice.

We might consider ourselves to be well organized and under control,
but when we are suddenly flooded with many issues, it can cause our
thinking to become disjointed, and we might even feel the onset of a
panic attack.

There’s a good chance we all have experienced, or will experience
traumatic situations and during these times, we may wonder,
“Is there any goodness out there for me?”

One of the best calming effects for difficult times is knowing for sure
that we are loved. When we are confident that someone else loves us,
we can cope with adverse situations better, because we know that when
we are having difficult times, someone still cares about, and loves us
(they are also praying for us, if they are followers of Jesus).

This is one of the many reasons that reading God’s Word is so important.
We can see in the scriptures that God not only loves us, but His love never
goes away – it’s everlasting! His love is so strong that it draws many people
to Him. Love can be considered the most supreme and dominant attribute
of God. Why? Because love is equated to who God is.
Whoever does not love does not
know God, because God is love.
    (1 John 4:8)

The promises of His love and forgiveness are as real, as sure, and as
positive as human words can describe them. Until we experience it,
and until we feel its presence, no one else can adequately describe
the wonders or the magnitude of God’s love.

We should never question God’s great love, because it’s an unchangeable
part of Him and His holiness. If it were not for the love of God, none of us
would ever have an opportunity to spend an eternity with the Lord. God
is love and His love for us is everlasting!

ACTION:
Questions to consider:
    – Are you going through a difficult time right now?
    – Do you feel like the walls are closing in on you
and you have no escape route for finding relief?

Rather than allowing our situations to dominate our thoughts
(which creates even more distress), we should take a pause
and think about the awesomeness of God’s love for us!

We should take the time to pray and thank Him for His love and
ask Him to help us with what we are going through at the moment.
We should think about how much His love means to us and let that
be our motivation for showing love to others.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I pray that I will never lose sight of Your
everlasting love for me. No matter how others may treat me,
I know that their actions will never diminish Your love. Your
love means more to me than anything the world has to offer.
I cannot imagine going through this life without Your love. I
trust You to help me with the issues in my life and I ask You
to help me express love to others (not just with words, but
with actions as well). Thank You for loving me, not for a day,
not for a week, not for a month, not for a year, but for a lifetime!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 120 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
