DEVOTIONALS

IS SOMETHING MISSING IN YOUR LIFE?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
To them God has chosen to make known among the
Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory.
(Colossians 1:27)

MEDITATION:
No matter what is going on in our lives, we can still have a
feeling that there is a void that needs to be filled. We may
be financially successful, but there is still a void. We may
increase our intelligence to the maximum, but there is still
a void. We may attain the best social status imaginable, but
there is still a void. We may achieve all our athletic or talent
goals, but there is still a void.

Underneath the surface of every individual a void exists that
the world cannot fill. It is living proof to us that man cannot
be satisfied by anything or everything the world has to offer.
As an example, a rich man was asked, “How much is enough?”
and He replied, “A little bit more!”

As long as we continue exploring the world to fill the void,
our hunger will continue to exist. Some will deny that the
void exists, and they will try to convince others that their
life is perfect. But how do they feel late at night when they
are all alone in the dark?

This vacuum can only be filled through a relationship with
Jesus Christ. The amazing part is, our great and almighty
God can live in our hearts no matter who we are or what we
have achieved, or failed to achieve. It makes no difference
who we are, God loves us, wants what is best for us, and can
fill the void in our lives with a hope that is eternal.

The hope of glory (being with the Lord in heaven) is the epitome
of all hopes. It is a hope that comes to fruition when we leave this
life. This hope is our motivation for living out our days here on
earth. When worldly hopes are attained, we will often create new
goals to strive for. However, when our hope is targeted for the end
of life’s journey, we will have that hope forever and all that we do,
say and think will be influenced by our eternal hope.

This hope encourages us to worship and praise the Lord, and
creates a desire in us to point others to Him. Serving the Lord
is an exciting journey that is never boring. It is a journey that
may take us out of comfort zone, but nothing can be any more
satisfying than knowing we are doing something for His kingdom.

ACTION:
Questions to consider:
    – Do I have a yearning for something else in this life?
    – Have I surrendered my life to the Lord,
and given Him control of all I think, do and say?
    – How is God using me as part of His earthly ministry?
    – What spiritual gift have I been given to use in serving the Lord?

In summary, we have been given a void that needs filling which
creates in us a desire to seek the Lord. We have also been given
an opportunity to fill the void, not in our own strength or efforts,
but by going to the only source who can fill it.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for loving and caring for me.
Thank You for creating in me a void that only You can fill.
Thank You for giving me a feeling of emptiness and a longing
in my soul. I give my life to You and look forward to how You
plan to use me. I need the presence of Your Spirit in my life and
I surrender my life to You today.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 120 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
