DEVOTIONALS

YOU MAY KNOW ABOUT JESUS, BUT DO YOU KNOW HIM, AND DOES HE KNOW YOU?

SCRIPTURE:
For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that
He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
(Romans 14:9)

MEDITATION:
Jesus was crucified and resurrected so that we could receive salvation.
All of those who confess their sins and express their belief (faith)
in Him will be saved according to God’s Word.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved,
but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)

Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the
cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other
name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
(Acts 4:11-12)

Because of what He did, everyone who receives salvation calls Him Lord.
However, the saved aren’t the only ones who will call Him, Lord.
Those condemned to an everlasting judgement will also call Him Lord.
It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow
before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” (Romans 14:11)

Some will joyfully call Him Lord
but sadly others will regretfully call Him Lord.
We know that we will be glad to call Him Lord when we genuinely
strive to get to know Him more, and are sure that He knows us.

When we know Him, our lives will experience a complete overhaul.
We will have a new desire to spend time with Him as much as possible.
We will not look for reasons to avoid attending His house of worship.
We will not assume that being ‘religious’ and doing things
that look good to others will bring Him closer to us.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of
heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in
heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in
your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly,
‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)

ACTION:
Do you know Jesus and does He know you?
How has your life been changed?
Do you have a burning desire to spend more time with Jesus?
Have you found other things to do
instead of spending time with Him in His house?
Worshiping alone is great, but not worshiping together with other
believers is disobedience of His command to meet together.
In fact, He tells us plainly that we should not give up meeting together
“…all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25b)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation provided through
the sacrifice Your Son, Jesus made for me. Because of what He did for
me, I pray that I have a greater desire for Him to know me. Forgive me
for anything I have allowed to take the place of spending time with Jesus
and other believers. Convict me if I have convinced myself that I can make
my own rules and ignore Your commands. Help me to change my priorities
so that I will know Him better and I will have no doubt that He knows me.
Thank You Jesus for dying for me and I gladly call You Lord! My soul
rejoices in knowing that You are my Lord and You are with me!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
