BIBLE PASSAGE:
For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so
that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
(Romans 14:9)
MEDITATION:
Jesus was crucified and resurrected so that we could receive salvation.
According to God’s Word, all of those who confess their sins and express
their belief (faith) in Jesus will be saved.
For God so loved the world that He gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall
not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved,
but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
(Mark 16:16)
Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has
become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one
else, for there is no other name under heaven given to
mankind by which we must be saved.”
(Acts 4:11-12)
Because Jesus chose to obey our Heavenly Father and become a living
sacrifice to atone for our sins, everyone who receives salvation will call
Him, Lord. However, the saved aren’t the only ones who will call Him,
Lord. Those condemned to an everlasting punishment will also call Him,
Lord.
It is written: “As surely as I live,” says the Lord,
“every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will
acknowledge God.”
(Romans 14:11)
Some will joyfully call Him Lord but sadly others will regretfully call Him
Lord. Why? Because He is still Lord even though they chose not to believe
in Him. Those who receive salvation will gladly call Him Lord and will have
a desire to get to know Him better. In addition, the saved will want assurance
that Jesus ‘knows’ them. If Jesus doesn’t know us, then we don’t belong to
Him, do we?
When we know Jesus, our lives will experience a complete overhaul.
We will have a new desire to spend more time with Him. We will not
look for reasons to avoid attending His house of worship. We will not
assume that being ‘religious’ and doing things that look good to others
will bring Him closer to us.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the
one who does the will of My Father who is in
heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord,
Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name and in
Your name drive out demons and in Your name
perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them
plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from Me, you
evildoers!’
(Matthew 7:21-23)
ACTION:
Questions to ask ourselves:
– Do I know Jesus, and more importantly, does He know me?
– How has my life been changed
since I chose to surrender my life to the Lord?
– Do I have a burning desire to spend more time getting to know Jesus?
– Have I found other things to do as a replacement
for spending time with the Lord in His house?
Worshiping alone is great, but not worshiping together
with other believers is disobedience of His command to
meet and worship together. Some may have medical
conditions that prevent them from meeting with other
believers physically, but all of us can still worship with
others in other ways. The scriptures tell us that in the
‘last days’ many will drift away from worshipping the
Lord, but the true followers of Jesus should do the
opposite, we should worship,….
“…all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
(Hebrews 10:25b)
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation provided
through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. Because of what He
did for me, I pray that I will have a greater desire to know more
about Him and His ways. Forgive me for anything I have allowed
to take the place of spending time with Jesus and other believers.
Convict me if I have convinced myself that I can make my own rules
and ignore Your commands. Help me to change my priorities so that
I will know Jesus better and I will have no doubt that He knows me.
Thank You Jesus for dying for me and I am glad to call You Lord!
Teach me to show my love for You through my words, thoughts, and
actions. My soul rejoices in knowing that You are my Lord and You
are with me! Please give me Your assurance that You know me.”
