POINTING OTHERS TO GOD: DO YOU SHOW TRUTH AS TRUTH, OR TRUTH AS FICTION?

They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might,
so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
PSALM 145:11-12

What impact are you having on the kingdom of God?
How does your life point others to Christ?
With the attractions of the world, those who want others to know about God can have challenges.
Not only do they face challenges, but if they are weak in their faith, they can become discouraged.
How do we ‘keep on keeping on’ with our efforts of pointing others to Jesus?

We continue because we have concern for the lost and we obey what the scriptures tell us to do:
“But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”
that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth,
“Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth
that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him
will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile — the same Lord
is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of
the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear
without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?
As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
(Romans 10:8-15)

The scriptures tell us to ‘bring the good news’.
Does it mean we all become pastors?
No it doesn’t.
Does it mean we become missionaries?
Yes, it does.
We are all missionaries whenever we obey the scriptures and use our spiritual gifts to serve God.
We are missionaries when we show others that our faith is sincere and our belief in God is real.

There was a clergyman who had a friend who was an actor.
The actor was drawing large crowds of people, but the clergyman was preaching to only a few in the church.
He said to his actor friend,
“Why is it that you draw great crowds, and I have no audience at all?
Your words are sheer fiction, and mine are unchangeable truth.”
The actor’s reply was quite simple.
“I present my fiction as though it were truth; you present your truth as though it were fiction.”

There may be many Christians who give the impression that the truth is fiction
by the way they live and by their lack of dedication to the teachings of our Lord.

Are you showing others that the truth is fiction, or are you proving that truth is truth by the way you live?
When others look at you and the way you live, what do they see?
Do they see a committed believer who enjoys worshipping God and wants others to do the same,
or do they see someone whose committment to their faith is questionable?
What changes could (should) you make in order to point others to God and His salvation?
Do you need to change your attitudes, your language, your habits, your frequency of worship attendance, etc.?
According to the Psalmist, we have been ordained to tell others about God
so that they will be aware of His acts and the glorious splendor of Heaven.
Pray,
“Lord Jesus, I completely yield my life to You,
so that others may know that the Savior I love and serve is the truth!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
