GOD HAS A PLAN THAT WE CAN EITHER REJECT, OR ACCEPT, EMBRACE AND ENJOY
BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever
rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.”
(John 3:36)
MEDITATION:
Mankind will always have a desire to be in control. It is this desire
that stands in the way, and prevents many from surrendering their
lives to the Lord. It is also this desire that causes some to advocate
the creation of a man-made system of morals, ethics and ‘religion’
to unite all the religions of the world.
But, regardless of the creative efforts of mankind, nothing will ever
replace the salvation plan provided by God. He has created a system
that promises peace, joy and hope for all who believe in His Son.
Mankind offers many promises, but cannot deliver; however, God
delivers on all His promises. And, it is His promises that give hope
of a better life to every individual. Yet, there are many who refuse
His free offer and choose instead to try to work out a better life for
themselves, in their own way.
Due to sin, mankind is a target of God’s wrath, and the only way to
be protected from His wrath is through His Son, Jesus. Some think
it is possible to combine their own system with God’s system so they
can tailor His plan to fit their own lifestyle, but any efforts to do this
is a rejection of His plan, and of Jesus Himself.
Those who reject the Son “will not see life” according to God’s Word.
God doesn’t sugar coat it – He wants total surrender from those who
love His Son. And because of this, partial commitment includes some
amount of rejection. Women don’t become ‘a little pregnant’, they are
either fully pregnant, or they are not pregnant at all.
We all stumble at times and make mistakes, but what is important
is the desire in our hearts to embrace God’s plan, and to strive to
stay within His boundaries in our efforts to please Him.
Surrendering to the Lord is a continual effort and a work in progress.
But if we aren’t moving forward, then by default, we are moving in a
backwards direction. Instead of growing closer to Him, we are drifting
further away. Trying to maintain status quo is not possible for those who
are fully committed to accepting Jesus and surrendering their lives to Him.
ACTION:
Questions to consider:
– How committed am I to accepting God’s plan and embracing His Son?
– Are there areas of my life that I am still trying to blend into in His system?
God loves us and He wants the best for us;
He wants to remove His wrath so we can have eternal life.
His plan is simple – either we can reject His Son and face death, or
we can surrender our lives to Him and have the hope of eternal life.
We can also have a better life on earth as we receive His blessings
promised to those who have not rejected His Son but have chosen
to become adopted members of His family.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, forgive me for any attempts to modify Your
salvation plan in any way. Guide me in my efforts to release the
things I am holding on to. Help me to fully surrender to You, to
embrace Your plan of salvation, and to strive to be more like
Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for Your promises to those who
do not reject Your Son.”
