BIBLE PASSAGE;
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give
you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
MEDITATION:
Does this scripture excite you? It should!
More than likely when most of us receive salvation from the Lord,
we know that we are now destined to be with Him in Heaven one
day, and we will sit at His table, but like we have heard on many
infomercials, “Wait, there’s more!”
If everything remained the same after we are saved,
then wouldn’t we feel like we have been “short-changed”?
Sure, God saved us so that we could be with Him in eternity,
but He also saved us so our lives could be changed while we
continue to live them out here on earth.
When we are saved, we should expect
to experience significant changes in all areas of our lives;
if we don’t, then it probably creates feelings of disappointment in us.
Many go through life wondering why they have not been changed
and why they are not celebrating a new life that is exciting, full of
hope, and productive.
Some ‘know’ how they should be changing things in their lives
(like habits, attitudes, growing closer to the Lord, serving the Lord,
etc.), but have chosen to remain the same.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
However there are some who anticipate changes in their lives,
but are unsure of what their ‘new creation’ should look like.
Without exploring the scriptures, they continue with their
‘old creation’ and as a result, they miss out on receiving their
blessings from the Lord, and also fail to contribute anything that
will point others to Jesus.
With these thoughts in mind, my Sunday School class
and I began a journey called, “I’m Saved, Now What?”,
to look at what we should anticipate and expect in our
‘new walk’ with the Lord after we have been saved.
It has been created from a book I wrote by the same name
but never felt led by God to get it published.
This series is basically the book broken into bite-size pieces.
If you have a desire to adjust your life in order to be blessed
by the Lord, or if you just have a curiosity about how your
life could/should be changed after salvation, we invite you
to join us as we explore the scriptures to discover God’s
will for those He calls, and has saved.
This is a weekly series that began on Sunday, January 8, 2022
