BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone
down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that
his time is short.” (Revelation 12:12)
MEDITATION:
We should never make jokes about the Devil,
or speak lightly of him.
He has great power which is greater than any nation,
and greater than any weapon that man has created.
He has the power to rule in the minds of man
and only God can remove him from his throne.
His purpose is:
to hinder the work of God,
to prevent prayers from being prayed,
to delay the Second Coming of Christ,
to oppose the Holy Spirit,
to stop revivals,
to destroy the lives of individuals,
and to destroy mankind (God’s highest creation).
The Devil is a horrible, hostile, and hateful monster who
wants to inflict pain, misery, and spiritual death on all people.
He wants people to believe that ‘good is bad’ and ‘bad is good’.
He presents himself as a beautiful, enticing friend, but when
he captures his victim, he is transformed into a hideous enemy.
When he is cast forever out of God’s presence, he knows
his doom is near and he increases his efforts to destroy lives.
We would think that such a great defeat in heaven
would cure him of his intense ill will, or at least
cause him to stop his efforts to oppose God and His people.
But he is hopelessly depraved, and nothing
but absolute force can overcome his devil nature.
There is no cure for being so totally perverted.
His ejection from heaven and his confinement
to the earth only angers him more, and he calls
forth increased violence, in order to create an
environment far worse than this world could imagine.
It is abundantly evident that we are living at the very end
of the Christian age, and near the very end of the last days.
Whether we believe it or not, Satan and his demons
are real and they are active in our world today.
Even though Satan and his ‘team’ are opposing us,
and even though it appears we are living in the last days,
God and His ‘agents’ (believers) are busy reaching out to
the lost people who are doomed to eternal punishment.
Convincing unbelievers that heaven and hell are real is not an
easy task because Satan fully understands that the only means
of prolonging his evil life is by delaying the second coming of Christ.
It is for this reason that he uses his evil schemes to
harden the hearts of people so they will not believe in Jesus.
They are darkened in their understanding and separated
from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in
them due to the hardening of their hearts. (Ephesians 4:18)
ACTION:
As followers of Jesus Christ, we need to actively pray
for the salvation of the lost, and allow God to use us
and the spiritual gift He has given us to point others
to the Lord.
With God using us, we could be the last hope
for someone who is destined for eternal
punishment and separation from the Lord.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me Your
gift of salvation so that I can be with You in paradise.
Help me to use the spiritual gift You have given me to
point others to Your Son, Jesus Christ. I pray that the
hearts of the lost souls will be softened so they will
eagerly listen to You speaking through others at just
the right time, with just the right words.”
