DEVOTIONALS

FAITH IS THE FOUNDATION WE NEED

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for
and assurance about what we do not see.”
(Hebrews 11:1)

MEDITATION:
Some people join churches today with wrong expectations.
They think that church membership guarantees blessings
with no burdens. Some think that God manages a heavenly
cafeteria where they can choose the commands they want to
obey. Still others think that life would be near perfect when
they are saved, and if it doesn’t work out the way they wanted,
they say,
“Well, it’s not paying off! I thought if I gave
my heart to Jesus, then He would supply
everything I wanted and I’d have no more worries.”

Unfortunately too many people fall away when their own
expectations are not met. Real faith is not just receiving
from God the things we want; real faith is accepting from
God the things He gives us.

The mind is an incredibly powerful tool, and it can be
used for good, or go to waste when neglected or abused.
If it is controlled by the ‘evil one’, the righteous things
will be viewed as negatives. However, if it is controlled
by the Lord, righteousness will be viewed in a positive
light.

In times of trouble, the mind can be consumed with
negativity and hopelessness. However, faith can help
us reverse this type of thinking and provide us with
positive feelings of hope.

It replenishes both our heart and spirit, since everything
emanates from our mind. Instead of becoming weaker,
faith can make us stronger, even during the difficult
times, when we feel we are in a valley of despair.

Going through life with all of its ups and downs can take a
toll on us. At times, it can be enough to question our very
existence. But through all of the trials and tribulations we
might face, it’s faith in God that gives us that helping hand.
It works to guide us in the right direction, and helps us to
discover our purpose for living.

This doesn’t happen overnight. Usually, when we’re faced with
a difficult situation, it gets harder before it gets better. Little by
little, a part of us is broken, until one day, we dig deep down inside
and somehow find the strength we needed to make it through. That
strength comes from our faith in the Lord.

It’s easy to allow stress, anxiety, and fear to run (and possibly ruin)
our lives. We go from moment to moment worried about one thing
or another. Sometimes, those worries manifest themselves into highly
stressful situations, causing not only mental anguish, but physical
problems as well.

When we allow our minds to move in that direction unchecked, we can
experience all kinds of damage mentally, emotionally, physically, and
unfortunately spiritually. But it’s faith in God that helps to keep those
things at bay. Even when we have little reason to believe that things will
improve, it’s our faith in God that comforts us, as we are reminded that
He has said He will always be with us,

Everything in life is far easier to get through when we have faith in
God and His abilities. It’s the guiding light that ‘pulls’ us through
difficult times and ‘pushes’ us towards God’s purpose for our lives.
Knowing that God has a purpose for us, is what gives us satisfaction
that we have been created for a reason.

ACTION:
How are your spiritual eyeglasses? Are you looking at life
through the eyes of the Lord and trusting that He will provide
what you need (which may not necessarily be what you want)?

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I pray that You will strengthen my
faith in You. Help me to recall how You have been with
me in the past and how I can depend on Your presence
now, and in the future. Remind of Your love for me and
Your desire for me to enjoy Your blessings, appreciate
Your forgiveness, and look forward to Your plans for me.
Create in me an enthusiasm about the path You have
created especially for me.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
