DEVOTIONALS

THE WORLD TRIES TO DISTRACT US FROM GROWING CLOSER TO THE LORD

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and
be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
(Hebrews 13:5-6)

MEDITATION:
We should find our contentment in Jesus,
our companionship in Jesus,
and our confidence in Jesus.
When we do that, we will find our comfort and our courage in Jesus.

The world has many ways
of distracting us from finding true contentment in our Savior.
In the verses above, “the love of money” is one of those distractions.
It transfers our love and dependence from the Lord to money.

Conversely, when we willingly (and with a grateful heart)
return to God what He asks of us as proof of our love
and trust in Him, we express our confidence in His
ability to provide for all our needs.

When we are contented in the Lord and He is
closer to us than anyone on earth could possibly be,
when we are confident that He will provide in the midst
of trials and testing, then we will know the courage that
comes from His comforting presence.

ACTION:
Never overlook the contentment that can be found in Jesus.
It is not something that ‘just happens’, but it is a result of
intentionally seeking Him and inviting Him into our daily life.
It is a willingness to surrender our will to His will for us.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, with all my heart and with all I am,
I want to know you more. I want our relationship to be
closer every day and for my faith in You to grow. Forgive
me for the times I have allowed the things of this world
to take my attention away from You and how You have
blessed me in so many ways. You have been so good to
me by loving and forgiving me whenever I have failed.
Thank You for Your mercy and grace!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
