20 DAYS IN 2 HOURS CHALLENGE: “BLESSINGS” (Day 10)

GOD HAS GIVEN US AN INCREDIBLE GIFT FOR BLESSING OTHERS!

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face
shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His
face toward you and give you peace.”
(Numbers 6:24-26)

MEDITATION:
Have you ever suddenly thought about someone
and felt the need to pray for them?
It can happen “out of the blue”
and it is up to us to respond to those feelings.
But if we don’t know what is going on in their lives,
then how should we pray for them?

When we read the scriptures in Numbers,
we are given a great example of how to pray for others
(even if we are unaware of their needs).

And the beauty of praying in this manner is,
we don’t HAVE to know what they need,
we simply pray for the Lord to bless them,
show them His grace, and provide them with peace.

God has given us prayer as a way of blessing others.
What an incredible gift!
We can call on the Lord to bless others at any time,
and in any situation, without knowing their specific needs!

ACTION:
If you have concerns about someone, but are unsure of
how to pray for them, use the example in Numbers 6:24-26.
Whenever someone “comes to mind” and you feel they need
prayer, don’t procrastinate, but pray for them right then
no matter where you are.

When we pray for others, we don’t have to pray lengthy
well-articulated prayers, we just need to express our
concerns for their welfare, and ask the Lord to help them
in whatever situation they are in.

We should also pray often for God to
bless those who are actively serving Him.
Satan would love to discourage them,
but our prayers can bless them with God’s encouragement.

Have you been using this gift from God
as a way of asking him to bless others?
When we ask His blessings for others,
we can open the door for our own blessings.
Why? Because we are obeying God by showing
concern for others even though we may have needs.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather,
in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to
your own interests but each of you to the interests of the
others. (Philippians 2:3-4)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me an example
of how to pray for others in their time of need. Forgive
me for the times I have had sudden thoughts about someone
but failed to pray for them immediately. Help me to remember
how to pray for others whenever I do not know their specific
needs. Teach me to pray more from my heart than from my
mind. Remind me that when I pray for others, I am asking
You to bless them and not giving You instructions.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
