BIBLE PASSAGE:
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
(Psalm 32:8)
MEDITATION:
A man and his son were having a conversation one day and
the son reminded his dad of something that happened one Sunday.
He said,
“Dad, I was sitting in church, and when you looked at me,
I knew I was going to get a spanking when I got home.”
If you’re married, you know
how your spouse can give you ‘that look’ which says,
“Whatever you’re talking about – stop!”
That’s the kind of intimate relationship people develop
when they have known each other for a long time.
It is the type of fellowship we need to have with the Lord.
A relationship that touches our heart when He just looks at us!
There are times when impure thoughts
come to our minds and the Holy Spirit says, “Stop”.
We shouldn’t nourish the thought
and allow it to lead to disobedience.
Instead, we should be thankful that
the Holy Spirit came to our rescue.
When the Lord commands us to “stop”, we realize
the magnitude of His loving care and concern for us.
It is a ‘special time’ when we can feel His presence
and know that He loves us, protects us, instructs us,
and is constantly watching out for us.
ACTION:
Prepare for the invasion of these impure thoughts by
imagining the eyes of the Lord are upon you, because they are!
This visualization can strengthen us and give us the courage to
reject those sinful thoughts, and to quickly escort them out of our minds.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself
up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every
thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for watching over me
and reminding me when impure thoughts have been
planted in my mind by the evil one. Give me the
courage and strength to avoid savoring these thoughts,
and to reject them when they arrive. Satan can have a
powerful influence on my mind, and give me thoughts
which seemingly come out of nowhere. Thankfully Your
omnipotence is stronger than his greatest strength, and I
know You can help me overcome his ‘sneaky’ attacks.”
