DEVOTIONALS

WHEN EVERYTHING IS CRUMBLING, GOD’S FOUNDATION REMAINS SOLID!

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of
the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.”
(Hebrews 1:10)

MEDITATION:
The world can seem chaotic at times, can’t it?
But even in the of worst times,
we can be confident that our God is in control!

It can be overwhelming to wrap our minds around His existence,
but the beauty of faith is, we believe in God’s existence
even though we have not seen Him physically.
We believe that He has created a plan (a good plan), for the world
from the beginning of time (which is the same today as it was then).

And because we believe in God and His plan, we know that
whenever chaos exists, it is a result of mankind’s failure to
stay within the boundaries of the foundation He created.

It is easy to look at sin as a ‘community’ problem,
but we know that the ‘community’ fails because
‘individuals’ have failed to follow God’s guidelines.
Each of us can be guilty of contributing to the failures
of mankind whenever we exceed God’s boundaries.

Contrast our lives with the life of Jesus:

Nobody knows the exact date of Jesus’ birth,
and yet His birth has divided all of history into A.D. and B.C.
He never, so far as we know, wrote a book, and yet
more books have been written about Him than any other person.

He never painted a picture or composed any poetry or music
that we know of, and yet He has been the inspiration of the
greatest music, art, and poetry that the world has ever known.

He never had any formal education,
yet more schools, colleges, universities, and seminaries have
been founded in His name than any other person who ever lived.

That’s who Jesus is, and never
has there ever been another like the Lord Jesus Christ!

ACTION:
It is no secret that as long as Satan is active in the world,
we will all have struggles with temptation and sin.
However, if we do nothing,
it will not stay the same – it will get worse!

We need to look to the One who was sinless,
and develop His characteristics in our own lives.
And we need to remember that God has sent His
angels to encourage us as we pursue righteousness.

Marvel at His majesty! Praise the omnipotence of Jesus!
Read Hebrews 1:1-14:

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets
at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He
has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed Heir of all
things, and through whom also He made the universe.

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory
and the exact representation of His being,
sustaining all things by His powerful word.
After He had provided purification for sins, He sat
down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

So He became as much superior to the angels
as the name He has inherited is superior to theirs.
The Son Superior to Angels, for to which of the
angels did God ever say,
“You are My Son; today I have become your Father”?

Or again, “I will be his Father, and He will be My Son”?
And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world,
He says, “Let all God’s angels worship Him.”
In speaking of the angels He says,
“He makes His angels spirits, and His servants flames of fire.”

But about the Son He says,
“Your throne, O God, will last for, ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, Your God, has set You above Your companions
by anointing You with the oil of joy.”

He also says,
“In the beginning, Lord, You laid the foundations of
the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
They will perish, but You remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But You remain the same, and Your years will never end.”

To which of the angels did God ever say,
“Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies
a footstool for Your feet”?
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent
to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for creating my foundation
for living a life full of joy and peace. Forgive me for allowing
the things of this world to distract me from the blessings You
have for me. Forgive me for the times I yield to temptations
and fail to pursue the righteousness You want in my life. Help
me to refocus my attention to the things that please You, and
which will bring order to the chaos in my life. Father, thank
You for Your promises to those who love You and are called
by You. Show me where I can use the spiritual gift You have
given me to bring glory to You and point others to Your Son,
Jesus. Thank You for loving me, even when I struggle with
loving myself. Thank You for forgiving me, even when I
struggle with forgiving myself.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
