BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Give me understanding, so that I may
keep your law and obey it with all my heart.”
(Psalm 119:34)
MEDITATION:
Is God righteous?
Yes He is!
How is the righteousness of God revealed?
It is revealed from faith to faith.
In other words, God gives us truth;
we have faith in that truth;
then God gives us more truth.
The more we obey the light, the more light we get.
The reason some of us don’t understand the bible any
more than we do, is because we have not been living
up to the light that God has already given us.
We read some scriptures and we think,
“That’s good information”,
but in reality, it is only good information
when it is applied to our lives.
If we want to understand the part of the Bible
that we don’t understand, then we need to start
obeying the part that we do understand.
Then we’ll begin to understand what we didn’t understand.
Understand?
ACTION:
Are you happy with how much you understand about
the bible, or would you like to increase your understanding?
Think of increasing your understanding of the bible
the same way you would about anything else.
For instance, when you got your first car, you might have
only known that you needed to add gas to the tank at times.
But after awhile, you learned that you also
needed to check the oil and the air in the tires.
You may have learned even more (how to change the
spark plugs, check the air filter, check the radiator fluid, etc.).
It is the same way with learning more from the bible.
If you want to gain a greater understanding of the bible,
then you need to spend time reading it, meditating
on what you have read, and then, applying to your
own life the things you have learned.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, forgive me for not applying to my own
life the things I have learned from Your Word. I want to
understand more about Your Word, and in so doing, to
increase my spiritual maturity. Help me to spend more
time reading the bible – not reading for quantity, but to
spend time meditating on the scriptures I have read before
moving to new scriptures. Show me how to apply to my
own life the things that I learn from reading Your Word.
Increase my faith so that I will discover new hidden truths
in the scriptures.”
