BIBLE PASSAGE:
(Psalm 91)
MEDITATION:
God’s desire for us to be saved is so great that He
gives us illustrations throughout the Bible about it.
One picture of salvation is in the story of Noah’s ark.
Noah’s ark is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ in this way:
The ark was like a great coffin;
It didn’t have a bow;
it didn’t have a stern;
it didn’t have a helm,
because it was under the control of Almighty God.
There was turmoil all around as the sea raged,
but Noah and his family were safe in the
“arms of God’s provisions and protection”.
The ark kept the judgment waters out.
God wrapped Noah, his family, and the animals inside the ark.
“The animals going in were male and female of every living thing,
as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.”
(Genesis 7:16)
God sealed them in.
Nobody could open the door.
But, there was a window.
Noah could open the window and look up.
He could see past the chaos, disorder, commotion,
havoc, and mayhem surrounding him and his family.
See the parallel?
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message
of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were
marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit
guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are
God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14)
ACTION:
We who are in Christ, are sealed by the Holy Spirit of God.
It is in Jesus that we know God the Father.
When we are “sealed in Him”, we know how to “look up”
past the problems of this world and its chaotic environment.
Through Jesus Christ (our Ark of Safety),
we can look into heaven and discover peace and joy.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your desire that everyone
would receive Your salvation. Thank You for Your illustrations
throughout your Word. Thank You for assuring me that no
matter how difficult things in this world can become, I can
look through my “window” to You and find peace. Thank
You, Jesus, for being my ‘ark of salvation and protection’!”
