BIBLE PASSAGE:
“As it was in the days of Noah,
so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”
(Matthew 24:37)
MEDITATION:
According to God’s Word, the way it was in the days
of Noah is how it will be just before Jesus returns.
When we look around us,
it seems that the days of Noah are evident today.
What are some characteristics of those days?
In the days of Noah, there was apostasy
(people were believing ungodly philosophies).
In the days of Noah, there was anarchy
(violence filled the earth).
In the days of Noah, there were wicked ideas
(there were philosophers and politicians
who were trying to remake society).
As it was then and it is evident now:
There are scores of philosophers, false teachers, and politicians
who are devising schemes and carrying out plans to remold
society into their system of beliefs and values.
Their goals include redefining, or removing altogether,
the laws and guidelines established by our Creator.
A person was talking about a particular politician
and they asked someone close to him,
“When it comes to a press conference,
how can you tell whether he is lying?”
“If he puts his finger beside his nose, he is telling the truth.
If he reaches up and holds an earlobe, he is telling the truth.”
“Okay, but how do you know when he is lying?”
“His lips are moving.”
Thankfully there are still politicians with a sincere faith in God,
but they seem to be shrinking in numbers as others will do
and say anything to get people to vote for them.
We have come to a day when a man’s word means absolutely nothing.
Whether it is a treaty between nations, a marriage contract,
a business contract, or a political speech.
The same sins that produced the flood in Noah’s time
are being committed once again in today’s society
(in growing numbers).
God could be holding back His wrath
for the sake of those who are yet to be saved.
The same aroma of the sins that produced the flood
in Noah’s day are rising up to heaven today.
This stench is probably stinging the nostrils of God.
One day He will be returning to judge the world one final time.
ACTION:
So how do we handle today’s “days of Noah”?
As believers, we continue keeping God the Lord of our lives.
We pray for Christian leaders, for our country,
and for those who do not know the Lord.
And, we live lives that serve as our testimony of faith.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the salvation you have given me.
My desire is for those who are lost to receive it as well. I pray that
You would soften the hearts of the lost and convict them of their
need for You. Encourage those You have called (including me)
to be Your witnesses to a lost and dying world. Help us to look
at the harvest and commit to being one of Your workers. Create
in us a positive attitude that will be contagious to others in a world
that can be filled with gloom and doom.”
