BIBLE PASSAGE:
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit
on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions, your old men will
dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and
women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and
they will prophesy.”
(Acts 2:17-18)
MEDITATION:
Have you noticed more posts on social media related to the Lord?
Something is motivating more people, right? What could be
causing this increase (not just by an individual, but by the
number of people who are posting)?
When we look at the scriptures in Acts 2, we may get an
indication of the cause. The scriptures tell us that when
the ‘last days’ draw near the “Spirit of God” will become
increasingly active in the lives of God’s people.
As a result, they will begin prophesying. “Prophesy”
means to “utter as if by divine inspiration”. It doesn’t
mean “predicting the future”, it means “sharing the
truths from the Lord”.
The Holy Spirit also inspires God’s people to share
the good news that, salvation is available to all people.
And everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved. (Acts 2:21)
ACTION:
Take to heart the ‘spiritual’ things that you see on social media.
In other words, read them as if the Lord is speaking directly to
you. At the same time, compare what you see, to God’s Word;
if it conflicts with scriptures, then discard it immediately.
We see things occurring today that we never dreamed would
happen. The underlying cause is driven by an increase of evilness.
For instance, the world has decided to devalue the life of the
unborn, and that has resulted in devaluing life at any age.
In the past, someone might rob another person, which
meant they would lose some amount of money, a car, etc.
However with the increase of evilness, today a victim can
also lose their life.
None of us know when Jesus will return to take His
take His people home to spend eternity with Him,
but there are signs that should get our attention.
I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on
the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
(Acts 2:19-20)
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful,
proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control,
brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form
of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with
such people. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
Maybe you have been feeling the urge to speak more boldly
about the Lord and His offer of salvation. If so, then don’t
spend time trying to figure out how you will be perceived
by others, but focus on what the Lord expects of you, and
focus on the presence of His Spirit in your life.
Look at the words of Jesus when He
rebuked Satan and his efforts to tempt him.
Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written:
‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
(Matthew 4:10)
One way we ‘serve Him only’ is to share His Word with others.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, help me to be aware of the presence of Your
Spirit in my life. Give me the courage to boldly share whatever
You want me to share with others. Teach me the value of serving
You in whatever capacity You have chosen specifically for me.”
