DEVOTIONALS

GOD IS FOR US; WE SHOULD BE FOR HIM

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether
things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace
through his blood, shed on the cross.”
(Colossians 1:19)

MEDITATION:
Have you ever thought about why everything happens?
What about the reason for your own existence?
We can concoct all kinds of answers for these questions,
but the truth is, everything is to bring glory to
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

It kind of puts a new perspective on life, doesn’t it?
When our focus is on glorifying the Trinity,
we have different attitudes, emotions, priorities, goals, etc.
That’s not to imply that we go through life with our hands
folded and in constant meditation, but it does mean that we
discover ways to incorporate worship and praise into our lives.

Imagine for a moment how that compares to being a parent.
When our children are born, we want them to, not only enjoy
our company, but to also honor and respect us as their friend,
provider, advisor, and of course, parent.

God is our ‘heavenly parent’ and we have been created to
fellowship with, and glorify Him (along with Jesus and the Holy Spirit).
Just as we want what is best for our children,
He wants what is best for us.

In order to protect, encourage, and assist our children in pursuing
and finding happiness, we create boundaries for them.
Why?
Because without them, they wouldn’t have any idea
of the areas of danger which could cause them harm.

Is God any different?
No.
He can see the dangers that may not be obvious to us,
so He reminds us (through our consciences) of the
boundaries He has established for us.

As His children, we have a choice of either heeding His warnings,
or ignoring them and charging ahead with our own agendas.
Of course, whenever we ignore His boundaries,
we can expect to experience some unpleasant consequences.

ACTION:
Think about your own priorities and how much
you have incorporated the Trinity into your own life.
Are there any changes that you have been saying
to yourself that you need to make “some day”?

If so, then don’t allow the master of procrastination (Satan)
to convince you to keep putting off what you need to do now.
We know all influences from the devil are meant for our harm,
but everything from the Lord is designed for our good.

When thinking about why things happen and our purpose for
existence, never forget that what we do now, will affect our
relationship with the Lord, both now and for eternity.
Confess that Jesus is truly the Lord of your life now.

There will be a final judgment when,
“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven
and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
(Philippians 2:10-11)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your protection and concern
for me. Forgive me for the times I have resented your boundaries
and guidelines, which are designed for my benefit. Help me to
include You more into my life, so that my fellowship with You
will increase and I will seek ways to glorify Your Name.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
