HOLY SPIRIT – RELEASE HIS POWER INTO AND THROUGH YOUR LIFE!

BIBLE PASSAGE:
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came
about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy
never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human,
spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
(2 Peter 1:20-21)

MEDITATION:
In order to “connect” with the Holy Spirit, we need to:
    – Say “yes” to a switch in leadership of our lives to Him.
    – Open the doors of all areas of our lives to Him.
    – Actively pursue a relationship with Him.
    – Release His power in our lives.

When we release the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives,
we can make an impact for God in the world.
It is an amazing transformation which will change our lives forever!

When we think of powerful things, we often think of things like jet engines,
earth moving machines, hard tackles in football, slam dunks in basketball,
long drives in golf, singers and speakers who can motivate, inspire, and touch
many of the emotions of people (sometimes moving them to tears, determination,
and commitment), tornadoes, earthquakes, big ships, etc.

We can be attracted and gravitate toward powerfulness.
Of all the other powerful things we know, none of them can compare with the
fierce and awesome power of the Holy Spirit who fills a person, blows them up
from the inside out, changes them forever, and then explodes God’s love back
out of that same person into the world, to advance the kingdom of God.

That is what Jesus said would happen to every believer,
who makes the switch in leadership of their lives,
who opens the door to the Holy Spirit,
and who pursues a relationship with the Him.

Jesus said,
“People I am going, but you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will
be My witnesses to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8)

What was Jesus saying?
He was telling us that His followers (you and I) will be like sticks
of dynamite, filled with the explosive power of the Holy Spirit;
each of us will have a very unique and specific area of influence
where we will become His witnesses in a world held hostage by evilness.

Does that sound exciting to you? It should.
Imagine for a moment that the Creator of the universe (the One who created you),
will recruit and use you as a part of His powerful ministry,
and He will give you the Holy Spirit to empower you
to accomplish things you could never do in your own strength.

ACTION:
Have you been suppressing the Holy Spirit’s activity in your life?
If so, then commit to surrendering your control to His control.
Swap your selfishness for His leadership.
It is as simple as praying and sincerely asking the Holy Spirit
to assume control of your mind.

When you do, get ready to experience life
in a new way that you could never have imagined.
Suddenly you will begin to enjoy the ‘fruits’ of the Spirit,
including an unusual peace, joy, purpose, and organization in your life.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, forgive me for my attempts to control the things
that should be under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Thank You
for Your promise of sending the Holy Spirit into the lives of those
who believe in Jesus Christ. Remind me that my new Advocate has
not been sent to remain idle and collect dust, but to become an integral
part of my life, so that I will experience the peace and joy of surrendering
my life to the Lord.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
