BIBLE PASSAGE:
“He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations
of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.”
(Hebrews 1:10)
MEDITATION:
Nobody knows the exact date of Jesus’ birth,
and yet His birth has divided all of history into A.D. and B.C.
So far as we know, He never wrote a book, and yet
more books have been written about Him than any other person.
He never painted a picture or composed any poetry or music that
we know of, and yet He has been the inspiration of the greatest music,
art, and poetry that the world has ever known.
He never had any formal education, yet more schools, colleges,
universities, and seminaries have been founded in His name
than any other person who ever lived.
That’s who the Lord Jesus is,
and never has there been another like the Lord Jesus Christ!
Read Hebrews 1:1-14, and marvel at His majesty! Praise His omnipotence!
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times
and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,
whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the
universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation
of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins,
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
So he became as much superior to the angels
as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
The Son Superior to Angels, for to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son; today I have become your Father”?
Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”?
And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world,
he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”
In speaking of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God,
has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same,
and your years will never end.”
To which of the angels did God ever say,
“Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?
Are not all angels ministering spirits
sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
ACTION:
This is the awesome Jesus who loved you and went to the cross
for you so that you could sit at His table one day.
How amazing is it to realize that God’s own Son loved you that much?
Others may ostracize you at times, but Jesus is your greatest friend.
He is the one rooting for you and encouraging you to be the best you can be.
Although Satan wants to discourage you when you fail, Jesus is the one
who tells you that you are forgiven because He gave His life for you.
Whenever Satan wants to keep you looking back at your failures, Jesus
reminds you that looking forward is how you can enjoy your future with Him.
Satan says you are hopeless; Jesus says you have hope, because of Him.
Satan wants you to believe that others look down on you when you fail,
but Jesus wants to lift you up with the knowledge that you are forgiven.
Satan wants you to believe that Heaven is a fantasy,
but Jesus wants you to know that Heaven is real and not only
is there a home there for those who are His, but you can also
experience a portion of heaven in this life as you walk with Him.
Satan tries to convince you that you are unworthy of the love of Jesus,
but Jesus reminds you that none are worthy, but because of what He
did, you can become worthy because His blood covers your past failures.
Jesus became the sacrifice for all who surrender their lives to Him.
Yes, this is who Jesus is to God, to the world, and to you.
The world tries to extinguish His existence and remove His name,
but no one can do that, nor can they stop Him from returning one day.
And when He returns, He will rapture all of those who belong to Him.
Will you be one of those He raptures,
or have you allowed Satan and his workers to convince you
that you do not need to commit your life to the One who loves
you, and is ready to greet you when you step into eternity?
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son and what He did for me.
Help me to embrace what His sacrifice means for me. Show me how
I can be more committed to Him and how I can find ways to serve
Him. Teach me how to point others to Jesus so they can enjoy an
eternity with Him one day, and experience the joy of His presence
as they live their lives today. Thank You for saving me and giving
me hope of a future with You.”
NOTE:
This world is getting pretty crazy right now and there are many who need to
know the Lord. Jesus will return one day and you can do more than you think
you can to point others to Him. For starters, tell at least 5 people about these
devotionals (utvolwoody.wordpress.com), which I believe God sends me to
distribute. The only benefit I receive from more viewers is the knowledge
that more are hearing from the Lord (no financial benefits, perks, or anything
else). I have been distributing these since 2013 and still look forward to what
He wants me to distribute each week. You may be the one God has called to
be His conduit for one specific person.
