DEVOTIONALS

ARE YOU PASSIONATE OR LUKEWARM ABOUT YOUR FAITH?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed,
but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ
will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
(Philippians 1:20)

MEDITATION:
Moderation is good in some things,
like eating, sleeping, recreation, exercise, and finances.
But when it comes to spiritual warfare, moderation is not enough.
When it comes to believing the Bible, moderation is not enough.
When it comes to loving the Lord, moderation is not enough.

If you asked someone if they loved you, and they responded with, “Moderately”,
how would that make you feel?
Did you know that “Going the extra mile” originates from scripture.
If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. (Matthew 5:41)
These words from Jesus do not indicate moderation;
He encourages us to be passionate about our faith and to go the extra mile.

In the book of Revelation, we are told how God feels about moderation.
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were
either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor
cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16)

If others consider us to be ‘moderates’ about our Christianity,
then we have most likely been riding a ‘lukewarm’ fence.
When we are ‘moderate’, then we are probably compromising
some of God commands, instead of embracing them as truth.
Satan loves it when he can cause us to rationalize God’s commands and ‘tailor’
them to fit our own lifestyle, instead of ‘tailoring’ our lifestyle to fit His commands.

ACTION:
Ask God to help you to be a passionate worshipper and a bold advocate of the Lord.
If your Christian life is worth anything, it’s worth everything.
We aren’t all called to be preachers or missionaries,
but we are all called to live a life worthy of being identified as a Christian.
Our lives can serve as a testimony of our faith in the Lord,
and we should not be ashamed to admit that we belong to Him.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me! Forgive me if I have
been lackadaisical about becoming a new person in Christ. Forgive
me if I have been influenced by the world, or my own selfishness
has caused be to be guilty of compromising Your Word. Help me
to be brave and have the courage to draw a line in the sand from
this day forward. Remind me that my life should be a reflection of
the One I am following, and in Whom I have placed my faith and
trust. Help me to be more passionate about my faith and to make
no apologies for what I believe.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
