THE LORD’S LIGHT SHINES ABOVE THE DARKNESS

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“The LORD is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.”
(Psalm 116:5)

MEDITATION:
Imagine for a moment that you are in a plane on a runway.
Then you hear the pilot on the intercom informing you that
there will be a delay in takeoff because there is a heavy fog.
You look out the window and everything looks dark and
gloomy. You cannot see the sun, but you know it must still
be shining above the dense fog.

Finally the fog lifts enough for the control tower to give the
pilot a green light for takeoff. It’s still cloudy, but the plane
roars down the runway and starts climbing and climbing.

Suddenly, the plane bursts through the clouds and the sun
is so gloriously bright that you have to squint your eyes. You
see the wonder of its rays which were above the darkness all
the time.

That’s the way it is with Jehovah God, the “Sun of righteousness”
Who has healing for the hurting, love for the unloved, peace for
the worried and weary, hope for the downtrodden, and
encouragement for the discouraged.
But for you who revere my name, the sun of
righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.
And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be
ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when
I act,” says the LORD Almighty. (Malachi 4:2-3)

He is always loving, always giving, always caring, and He is
always waiting for us to see Him…at all times. He is always
reaching out His arms of love to embrace us and replace the
gloom in our lives with His glorious light.

ACTION:
We might be living with a darkness in our life that no one else
is aware of, but God is always above our gloom, and ready to
restore the light in our life. The brightness of His power, love,
mercy, and forgiveness can cast out the shadows that are
bringing us down.

Are you worrying about something today? Don’t try to cope
with it in your own strength; name it and give it to God. Ask
Him to give you faith to trust Him with your burden. He is
more than able to carry your burden and to restore joy into
your life.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, You know of all the trials in my life,
including the ones that have been self-induced. I know
You exist above all the darkness over me, and You have
the power of restoration. I want to be the kind of child
of Yours that You want me to be, and I can’t do that in
my own strength. Thank You for the Holy Spirit given
to me when I came to You and asked for Your forgiveness.
Help me to allow the Spirit to flourish in my life so that
I will be able to overcome the obstacles that restrict my
fellowship with You and Jesus Christ. Father, shine some
light into my world today. Thank You for the new hope I
can expect because of You.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
