DEVOTIONALS

IN THE MIDST OF UNCERTAINTY, WE CAN BE SURE OF ONE THING

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects
the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”
(John 3:36)

MEDITATION:
We live in a world of uncertainty.
The economy is uncertain and volatile; there is an uncertain threat of war, etc.
Unfortunately, there is even uncertainty in many marriages.
It appears that some thrive in creating uncertainties in marriage
due to their actions, attitudes, words, anger, etc.

In the midst of all the uncertainties we see and/or experience,
we can be certain that Jesus Christ WILL return, and there will be a judgment.
All of our rationalities and majority opinions that have caused us to justify
our sinful actions will NOT be sufficient in the final court of judgment.

Simply stated, Jesus loves us
and wants us to love Him (and show our love) in return.
Those who do, will receive eternal life
and those who do not, will be sentenced to an eternity of His wrath.

If we could only get a glimpse of the extreme blessings and consequences
of our choices, what a difference it could/should make in our decision.
The Lord does not want anyone to suffer an eternity of His wrath,
but He has given us a free will to make a choice.

We have many distractions which steal our time from the Lord
and damage our fellowship with Him.
Of course this means that we have to make a choice to exercise self-control
and give the Lord the priority He deserves in our lives.

Some have chosen to replace His command to
“not give up meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25) with,
“as long as I am not doing something sinful,
it is okay to skip meeting together with other believers”.
Whether we like the sound of it or not, that type of thinking is
an indication of a rebellious attitude, and shows a
regrettable rationale that will be exposed at the final judgment.

ACTION:
Pastor Robert G. Lee had a sermon titled “Payday Someday”.
It was a sermon inspired by God to warn us
that one day we will all have to pay for the choices we make.
All of the things that we thought were important throughout our lives
will pale in comparison to the importance of our commitment to the Lord.

If you have made a choice to surrender to the Lord,
are you fulfilling your commitment?
Or, have you allowed the attraction of other things to have a greater
influence on your life than maintaining a relationship with the Lord?
It is never too late for a recommitment and dedication of giving Him top priority.
And, if you have never committed Your life to the Lord, remember there
will be a final judgment and your choice today will affect how you spend eternity.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me an opportunity to choose
the kind of eternity I can either look forward to, or dread. Help me to
realize the importance of the choices I make, while I still have the
opportunity. Forgive me if I have failed to give You the right priority
in my life. Teach me how to willingly and enjoyably express my faith
in my daily life. Show me how I can point others to Your Son by living
a consistent life of faith.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
