BIBLE PASSAGE:
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.
(Psalm 52:8)
MEDITATION:
We live in a world where the virtue of trust is fading away.
Some companies have placed profit above loyalty to their employees.
Some employees have placed selfishness
and laziness above loyalty to their employer.
Many of the elected officials in Washington, D.C.
cannot be trusted to put what is best for the people they represent
above their selfish interests, ego and greed.
Even friends with the best intentions of following through on a commitment
may let us down out of forgetfulness, negligence, or other distractions.
We could go on and on with examples, but the question
we have to ask ourselves is, “In whom can I confidently place my trust?”
If we allow it to permeate our minds,
we can become very discouraged that trustworthiness is hard to find.
However, when we read the words of the Psalmist,
we can see that he placed his trust in the unfailing love of God.
He knew that God is unchanging and would never disappoint him.
It can be difficult at times to ‘feel’ the presence of an unseen God,
but the lack of being able to see Him physically should never
deter us from worshipping, loving, and trusting Him.
Look at the words of Jesus regarding our faith and belief in Him:
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed;
blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
In 1 Peter, we discover the benefits of our genuine faith and love of the Lord.
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not
see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and
glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the
salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:8-9)
God created us and He wants what is best for us.
Satan wants us to believe that God was not involved in
the creation of our life, but we know from God’s Word that Satan is a liar.
Look at His words to Jeremiah:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born
I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5)
Not only did God create us, but He had plans for us before we were born.
Our God is a big God and He can do big things through us,
that not only creates in us a feeling of usefulness and worth,
but can have a positive impact on the lives of others.
ACTION:
Maybe you have been wanting to make a greater commitment to God,
but have allowed other things to ‘get in the way’.
If that is the case, why procrastinate and miss out on
the goodness He has for those who love Him and put their trust in Him?
Others may try, but no person will ever love us to the same degree
that God does, and nobody can be trusted as much as Him.
Changing circumstances can affect the love and trust of people,
but God is unchanging in his love and trustworthiness.
Remember, He had plans for us before we were born
and His plans were for our good and the benefit of others.
When we trust Him in all things and allow Him to complete His
plans for us, not only do we create a closer relationship with Him,
but we experience blessings that we never imagined were available for us.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for being unchangeable. I know that
when I put my trust in You, I will not be disappointed or discouraged.
Thank You for loving me at all times, and even whenever I struggle
to love myself. Thank You for considering me important enough to
be included in Your plans, before I was even born. Father, I pray that
from this day forward my love for You will grow daily, and that I will
discover new ways to love other people as well.”

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
