BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat
or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than
food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they
do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
(Matthew 6:25-26)
MEDITATION:
Some British railroad hands found a bird’s nest under one of the rails.
Peacefully sitting on her eggs,
the hen was undisturbed by the roar of the fast trains above her.
Someone wrote these words:
Said the robin to the sparrow, I should really like to know,
Why these anxious human beings, Rush about and worry so.
Said the sparrow to the robin, Friend, I think that it must be,
That they have no heavenly Father, Such as cares for you and me.
Jesus used the carefree attitude of the birds
to underscore the fact that worrying is unnatural.
We have to choose to worry about things, and it is not a good choice.
I don’t know if it is true or not, but someone said statistics
have shown that 90% of the things we worry about never happen,
and the other 10% couldn’t be changed by worrying.
Having concerns is one thing, but worrying
causes us to create all kinds of “what if” scenarios in our minds.
And when we do, we can find ourselves creating additional scenarios
as byproducts of the ones we have already created.
It’s not long until we are consumed
with thinking of all the possibilities of any situation.
This all-consuming grip of our fabrications can keep us awake at night,
affect our relationships with others, and sometimes makes us ill.
Additionally, we can overlook and fail to enjoy God’s blessings.
It seems that extensive worrying about one thing can create
a ‘worrying trend’ in our life that spills over to all areas of our lives.
And when it does, we find ourselves becoming habitual worriers
with an unnatural desire to over-analyze the things (and people) around us.
ACTION:
If you have a tendency to spend a lot of time worrying,
pause and remember what the scriptures say about it.
If the Lord felt it was important to tell His followers
to trust Him in all things, and at all times,
then we should try to eliminate anything that jeopardizes our faith.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I know that You are in control, and yet there are
times when I still want to be in control. Forgive me for the times I fail
to put my trust in You. Help me to remember Your Words about worrying,
and to adjust my thinking so I can enjoy Your blessings, rather than being
consumed with creating ‘what if’ scenarios in my mind. I’m happiest when
I’m fully trusting You. Help me to be constantly grateful for Your care and
faithfulness. Thank You for Your promise that You will take care of my needs!”

I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
