BIBLE PASSAGE:
I will be careful to lead a blameless life ~ when will you come to me?
I will walk in my house with blameless heart.
(Psalm 101:2)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
In the marriage ceremony, after the vows are said,
the minister solemnly and reverently says,
“What God hath joined together let no man put asunder”.
Have you ever thought about what that phrase means?
Is it not an indication that God is to be the third part in a marriage?
He should be considered as an important part of the marriage
and be included in the home which is created from that marriage.
Since God joins the couple together at the outset,
then His presence should be an integral part of the home.
Unfortunately many homes are on the rocks today
because God has been left out of the domestic picture.
With the clash of personalities in a marriage union, a calming force
needs to be present, and the living God is that calming force.
Too many couples assume that if they have a better home, get a better job,
or live in a different neighborhood, their domestic life will be happier.
However they are overlooking the secret to domestic happiness,
which is to allow God (the third party of the marriage contract),
to have His rightful place in the home.
When both the husband and the wife make peace with Him, any home,
in any neighborhood, can become a peaceful and enjoyable place to live.
ACTION:
If you are married, have both you and your spouse made peace with God?
If one has and the other has not, the potential for turmoil remains present.
Why? Because there are different priorities between the two.
One measures everything against the standards of God,
but the other has a different set of standards.
If you are single, then consider the importance of
including God as the third member of a pending marriage;
discuss where you both stand on establishing a peace with Him.
God is not some kind of mystic being;
He is real, He created you, He wants a relationship with you and your
family, and He wants what is best for those who have made peace with Him.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, forgive me for my lackadaisical attitude toward You,
and the importance of Your presence in my marriage. I pray that every
member of my family will establish a peace with You, which will result
in a much happier and peaceful home. I pray that You will be our guide
in all that we do, and in our relationship with each other.”

About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
